There is growing concern internationally that pornography is contributing to cultural conditions that cultivate sexual assault. Understanding and addressing the influence of pornography is critical for violence prevention.
In October, the Children's Trust presented on the Safe Kids Thrive website, a resource for youth-serving organizations (YSO) across MA to develop and evaluate child sexual abuse prevention plans. The presentation focused on how Safe Kids Thrive can help support the ongoing work of the Child Advocacy Centers (CACs) and their partner organizations.
During October, MACA hosted an Advanced Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) for serving victims of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) Training with Kelly Kinnish, PhD. This training provided clinicians with strategies to address the unique challenges and traumas faces by CSEC survivors. We are thrilled to provide this innovative training to better serve children who are commercially sexually exploited.
Problematic Sexual Behavior Training Initiatives
This last year MACA offered a variety of training opportunities about Problematic Sexual Behavior (PSB). Each of these opportunities are meant to increase awareness about PSB and to equip professionals with the necessary tools to support children with PSB and their families. We look forward to continuing this work into 2022. Check out some of the trainings we have offered below:
Monthly PSB Lunch & Learns for professionals offered in partnership withMASOC. These presentations cover important topics surrounding PSB and provide networking opportunities for professionals.
Advanced TF-CBT for PSBwas offered at no-cost to clinicians across the state who are already trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and increased participants' understanding of Problematic Sexual Behavior (PSB) in children and how to best provide mental health services.
Problematic Sexual Behavior Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBT) Learning Collaborative was offered in 2020 and will be offered again in Spring of 2022. We are excited be able to offer this opportunity thanks to a second year of support from the MA Child Sexual Prevention Task Force.
