1) SCHOOLS AS NEIGHBORHOOD RESOURCES PROGRAMMING IS BACK IN SCHOOLS

Our flagship program for community engagement, Schools as Neighborhood Resources (SNR) is a model of school, family and community collaboration that turns schools into community gathering places designed to improve the educational environment and social development opportunities for students and families. We again partner with CMSD and the City of Cleveland to open six school buildings for out-of-school time three nights a week, November through March. Programs include recreation and enrichment programs for all ages. All SNR sites are open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights and all activities are free and open to the public. Participants range in age from preschoolers to senior citizens. Learn more here.
2) CALL FOR MENTORS! TRUE2U BEGINS IN JANUARY FOR 8TH GRADERS

PACE (Planning and Career Exploration) is an embedded curriculum for 6th – 12th graders in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) that provides them with the knowledge, skills, experiences, and confidence to uncover the occupations or careers they want to pursue. We are looking forward to the rollout of PACE this November! Going forward, True2U programming will fall under the umbrella of PACE. We are excited to be a part of such an important endeavor and hope that you will join us as a mentor as we make this transition. True2U's volunteer mentoring program helps CMSD 8th graders develop good decision-making skills and encourages them to leverage their strengths and interests as they start out on their paths to high school, college, and/or career choices. Mentors are partnered with at least one other volunteer and use their unique backgrounds and the True2U curriculum to assist students in better understanding themselves and the opportunities available to them. Based on feedback from last year’s mentors, we plan to offer both in-person and remote mentoring this year. All mentor training will be conducted virtually. Interested in becoming a mentor? Start here with True2U's Mentor application, which is due Nov. 19th.
3) NEIGHBORHOOD LEADERSHIP CLEVELAND SEEKING CLASS 38 PARTICIPANTS

Neighborhood Leadership Cleveland (NLC) is our flagship program for grassroots leadership development. Now in its 27th year, this training begins in February, in partnership with the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University. We’re proud to welcome both new and experienced leaders who want to gain confidence, learn skills, and use their voices to actively participate in effecting change. Participants will come away from the class with a deeper sense of their own purpose as leaders, a greater appreciation for the assets of their neighborhood, and a lifetime connection to the Institute’s network of more than 1,200 other grassroots leaders.
