Ed has been farming for 25 years in Cottonwood, Redwood, and Murray counties. He told us about being a plot host, "I really like seeing what different brands, varieties, and traits do in the field...in my field, where I know what the growing conditions were like during the season." With challenges to find farm labor, he sees driverless technologies being a help for production agriculture in the future.
He enjoys working with Mark and John Querna, FIRST managers. "I never knew how much work went into these plots, and I have developed a whole new level of appreciation for it." Farming means having to make changes and adjust, Ed says. "The more data I have to help me make decisions, the better. Then you've got a plan B, if something doesn't work out quite right."
