Team,
I know this point is obvious to us all, but it is worth talking about again. This has been a challenging year and a half; for all of us. Along with our normal duties, and along with all of our great shared accomplishments, the impacts and workload associated with this pandemic have been felt through our entire campus community. While the pandemic is certainly not new, I recognize how, in many ways, this semester is different. If you feel exhausted, afraid, sad, angry, frustrated, or overwhelmed, please know that you are not alone. I see and hear on a daily basis the toll this is having across our campuses, at all levels of the University, and with our students.
I hear you. I get it. And the truth is I have felt it too. If you are struggling to find a balance between pandemic workload, and moving forward with pre-pandemic initiatives, please express it. Say something to your supervisor or leadership. And to our campus managers and leaders, if you are feeling overwhelmed and having trouble navigating priorities, deadlines, operations, and keeping your team supported, bring it up with your leadership team or vice president. Let’s figure it out together. We can adapt how we care for ourselves and one another. We owe that to one another.
