Senior Spotlight: Maia Anderson
An Article by Staff Member Julie Healey
Maia Anderson is an exceptional student with a heart of gold. She has made quite an academic and social impact during her time at SRHS by earning excellent grades and taking part in all of the spirit activities each year. Maia has been a cheerleader for 8 years and made captain her junior year. As a HUGE Glee fan, she loves to entertain through song, cheer, and dance.
Maia plans on continuing her education, possibly at UNE, where she will study Dental Hygiene for Orthodontics. There is no doubt that her hard work and dedication will serve her well after high school. She has continually received high honors throughout her time in high school and will certainly continue to work hard for her future. She even holds a part time job at the YMCA school-age aftercare and still maintains proficient grades.
Maia loves family and friends. She often goes on vacations with her grandparents, mom (who works at Bakie), and sister (who graduated 2 years ago). Maia is also fond of her half-brother and half-sister who she sees from time to time. Maia is the sweet and definitely sassy member of her family and group of friends. For fun, Maia likes deep sea fishing, shopping, and playing with animals, especially her cat Dinah.
Maia is a kind, caring, and compassionate young woman who is the type of student that every teacher wants to have. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is always thinking of others. We at Sanborn will truly miss her and wish her the absolute best in her bright future!

SRHS Announces December Staff Members of the Month
Emily LaFrancis: Emily is always there for all her co-workers whenever is needed. She is such a bright and happy person in her days and is always going above and beyond to check in with everyone to make sure they are okay and put a smile on their face! She has been wearing many hats this year and no matter what position she may hold at the time, she always makes herself available to the students, both those she works with and others.  She cares about her students and actively seeks out opportunities to work with them on summatives or just chat about life. Her students admire her and she is always professional in her demeanor, so she serves as an excellent role model.

Sanborn School Nurses Run Giving Tree for the Community
As we approach the 2020 holiday season, the Sanborn School District will once again sponsor local families in need with our annual "Giving Tree".  Please consider clicking the link below to fulfil a gift wish.
Anyone who would like to help is asked to choose a gift from the list, purchase and return the item unwrapped with the ID# on each gift to the main office of any one of the schools no later than Wednesday, December 18th.

We thank you in advance for your generosity. The community response to "Giving Trees" of the past has been AMAZING, and we are sure Christmas mornings for the families that we sponsor are so much brighter because of it.

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to any of the school nurses.
(If you select a gift and are unable to find the item or fulfill your commitment, please delete your name from that item so that we can be sure that everyone's wish is filled.)

Nurses To Run Giving Tree For Families in Need
With Halloween  behind us the Holidays are quickly heading our way requiring much preparation.
This year Sanborn School District will be hosting a giving tree . All children living in the household of those who choose to participate are eligible to receive gifts through the giving tree. If your family is in need this year and you are interested in receiving gifts please let us know the name, age, gender and a few gift requests for each child living in your home. The names of those participating are completely confidential.

Each gift request should follow the guidelines of something you want, something you need, something to wear and something to read. We request a $25 limit per gift. You can e-mail your list to the school nurse, send a list into the nurse’s office via a sealed envelope with your student or call us with your list. The nurses across the district are organizing this together this year so if you have students in multiple buildings you can send your list with all of your children to any one of us.

Please feel free to call or email with any questions. We need to have all gift requests in by Nov 23rd. For planning purposes, if you want to receive gifts from the giving tree we would appreciate a quick note as soon as possible just to let us know so we can keep an eye out for incoming lists.

If you want to purchase gifts for the families within our community that have needs this year through the giving tree watch your e-mail the first week of Dec as we will be sending out a district wide Sign up Genius.

Thanks,

The First Day – Free Virtual Community Screening 12/17 6:30pm - https://bit.ly/3mb9Pt0

Through the power of storytelling, The First Day addresses issues that school systems, communities and people across the country are impacted by, directly or indirectly, each day including substance use, other harmful behaviors and mental wellness.  Chris Herren, former professional basketball player, author and wellness advocate, has shared his story of recovery with over 1 million people nationwide. The First Day film chronicles this journey revealing Herren’s vulnerability and his profound connections with high school students who, in turn, have shared their stories of struggle and strength. Register Here

Kingston voters we need your signature!

Kingston requires that all agencies be a citizen’s petition warrant article for their first three years. Thank you to all who signed for us for 2020! Once again, we need the signatures of at least 25 registered Kingston voters.  You are not voting to fund us by signing this petition, only endorsing our ability to be on the warrant to be voted on in 2021.

COVID-19 has greatly impacted our ability to collect signatures through in person events this year. We would appreciate your help this year through email.

You can find the petition here. Please print it and sign, then email the signed document to sorocknhcc@gmail.com. This can be returned with as little as one signature. We will combine all documents and turn in together.

As part of our year end #BeSafewithSoRock campaign, 50 free safe home kits will be distributed to local families free of charge. Kits will include the window/yard sign pictured here (first 25 in each town), locking RX medication box, reusable personal hand sanitizer with hotline numbers for mental health and substance use disorders , How to Teen Proof Your Home guide, firearm trigger locks, NH COVID-19 Family Resource guide, hotline magnet for mental health and substance use disorders, and safe medication disposal pouches.  SoRock has also purchased reusable fabric masks for SRMS/SRHS and our local police departments which we hope to distribute just prior to the holiday break.

PTO Clothing & Shoe Donation Bins
When you drop your unwanted clothing and shoes off in these bins, the SRHS PTO gets paid based on the weight of the clothing! This is a really easy way to help our school. All PTO proceeds go directly back to programming and scholarships that directly benefit our students. NOTE: Shoes must go in a separate bin.

Did you know? From April of 2015 - May 2017, this fundraiser has helped us raise nearly $2400.00 for the PTO. Help us double that number by sharing this opportunity with your friends, your family, and your neighbors!
