EMILY MCKOWN
Emily McKown, Youth Coordinator, explores questions on youth and young adult ministry. Grounded in our faith tradition’s history, both locally and continentally, we find ourselves at a pivotal moment. When so many young people are raised U.U.–never to be seen again–how do we reframe our approach to ministry for young people to make meaningful and lasting connections? How do we help our young people to thrive in beloved community?

REV. SALLY FRITSCHE
Join us this Sunday to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Unitarian Universalism’s beginning, born in the merging of the American Unitarian Association and the Universalist Church of America, and to hear some of the all-too-human stories of how our faith got its start. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a lifelong UU, Rev. Sally invites you to tune in to learn (or re-learn) a little about us, meditate on the principles we claim, and celebrate the UU tradition of continually reshaping the living, changing faith that brings us together.

Please consider donating to the Little Free Pantries run by Julie Laut and AJ Herzog, which they have kept active daily since late spring. In order to address increased and unique needs this winter, they have created an Amazon wish list. All items will be delivered to Julie's house and shared between the two pantries. Donations of all items will continue to be accepted as usual at both locations, if you want to bring them in person.
Thank you for your support and generosity ~ Julie and AJ

From Peggy Patten & Todd Kinney: Our own Joshua Bell will be performing his jazz piano doctoral recital on Saturday, April 24, at 5:00 pm. The event is free & will be live streamed. Get the livestream link from the University of Illinois Music Events here.
From Amanda Jane Pellett: Someone at my nursing home just tested positive for COVID-19. We had an outbreak before where 74 residents and staff got COVID-19 including me. Please think of me, the other residents here, and our caregivers as we face having this pandemic in our facility again.
From Beth Simpson: Joy to have finally written the last question of my preliminary exam, after a remarkable number of interruptions. This is a huge accomplishment for me!
From Jenny Lokshin: Sorrow for another day, another mass shooting, this time in Kenosha. And as always, more gun violence close to home. When will it all end?
From Tanja Hodges: Grateful for spring. My mom asked me to go into the yard and capture her beautiful trees in full bloom. Feeling lucky to have mom, and spring today.
Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service. They will be read aloud.
