Active Modes Plan update:
we want your feedback!
|
|
We are moving into the second phase of the Active Modes Plan, which will combine our 2011 Pedestrian Plan and 2014 Bicycle Master Plan into a single document. During this phase, we are taking stock of all the great infrastructure and programs we’ve implemented over the last several years, as well as identifying the places that leave more to be desired. We’re also building an up-to-date community profile, and to accurately reflect the current state of Fort Collins, we need your help.
First, complete and share our Community Survey. We hope you’ll also ask some friends, family members, neighbors, and colleagues to complete the survey as well-even if they don’t think of themselves as strong and fearless walkers or cyclists. We need to hear from as many community members as possible.
Second, take a minute to think about the physical places that are good, not good, and everything in between. Where have you walked, biked, scooted, or rolled recently what felt like a great, safe place to be. Also, where were places that you’d like to see improvements made? Using our online map, you can drop pins and add comments to all these places. You are even welcome to add a few pins and come back later to add more. Hurry, our map and survey close on Nov. 30, 2021.

Provide input on how to improve Spin Service by Taking this Survey!
|
|
|
Spin and the City of Fort Collins have collaborated to construct a survey aimed at better understanding rider habits. This survey will gather valuable information surrounding why and when people utilize shared e-scooters and e-bikes as well as barriers to use. The results of the survey will be used to develop strategies to increase ridership and promote the safety and sustainability of Spin's shared mobility services.

Winter Bike to Work
(or Wherever) Day is Feb. 11
|
|
Get ready for Winter Bike to Work (or Wherever) Day! We will be pivoting our date for Winter Bike to Work (or Wherever) Day to align with the international event for the first time. Our event will feel just about the same as it always does: free breakfast for folks who skip the car and bike, scoot, walk, or roll to work, or wherever, on Friday, Feb. 11, 2022.
Station host sign ups will begin around the third week of November. If you are interested in hosting a free breakfast station from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 11, 2022, contact Nick Heimann at nheimann@fcgov.com. Past hosts will also be invited to join the festivities.

Asphalt art installations
|
|
In June 2021, FC Moves was awarded a $50,000 grant from NACTO and Bloomberg Philanthropies to complete three asphalt art installations around the community. The grant, called the Pandemic Response and Recovery Grant, aimed to encourage local governments to demonstrate a rapid response to support communities most likely to have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
FC Moves partnered with Bike Fort Collins and Mujeres de Colores to engage community, recruit artists, and help install the projects. We couldn’t have imagined the magic of asphalt art when we started on this journey.
Over the last month, we completed asphalt art at Romero Street, Hickory Street, and Maple Street at Roosevelt Avenue. CSU grad Luis Santacruz and Bicycle Ambassador Brian Barrett designed the three murals and directed the installations. Community members near each site provided a list of what they’d like to see reflected in the murals, which Santacruz and Barrett used to inspire their designs. For each installation, around 50 neighbors came to help paint.
These completed projects are just the beginning of our asphalt art program. Over the coming months, we hope that more asphalt art can be realized throughout the community! Our vision is that the program will be community-led and driven. For now, hop on a bike or scooter and take a peek at these three installations and let your imagination run wild.

Registration open to Fort Collins businesses for free road safety program
|
|
Are you a small business that runs a fleet? Would you like to improve the safety of your workers and the communities you serve?
FOCUS on Fleet Safety is open to ten Fort Collins-area fleets. The 8-week road safety training will help companies build safe and efficient operations through a combination of safety training, leadership development and technology. You’ll work with safety experts and have access to industry leaders to bring best practices to your organization.
Ideal participants:
- Small-to-medium size organizations with 2 to 100 vehicles (for-profits, non-profits, local businesses, community-based organizations)
- Operate fleets with box trucks, vans, delivery trucks, full-sized pick-ups, flatbeds and other single unit vehicles (no tractor trailers)
- Have a strong desire to build and improve your safety culture!
TSR developed the FOCUS on Fleet Safety program in partnership with leaders in fleet safety, including many of the largest fleets on the road today. The program will help you go beyond compliance and share best practices from experienced fleet managers. It will help you create real and sustained changes that save lives on the road and create stronger organizations and communities.
Fort Collins’ Anheuser-Busch brewery, a leader in fleet safety, has committed funding to cover all expenses of the program; allowing 10 local organizations to go through the training for free.
Registration is now open for a program start of January 2022. All training will be done virtual.
