The Caregiver's Bill of Rights
In recognition of National Family Caregivers Month, Alyson Erardy, an oncology social worker and moderator of our young adult caregiver online support group, explores the Caregiver's Bill of Rights and how it can help caregivers while supporting a loved one in need.
As the name implies, the Caregiver's Bill of Rights (originally shared by Jo Horne in Caregiving: Helping an Aging Loved One) outlines individual rights belonging to those caring for a loved one, such as the right to take care of yourself, the right to seek help and the right to protect your individuality.

Open Enrollment for the Healthcare Insurance Marketplace Has Begun!

Join the My Cancer Circle Community
Cancer affects family members, friends and others who are close to a person coping with a cancer diagnosis. It can be especially difficult and overwhelming for the primary caregiver, who is often tasked with coordinating help from multiple people.
To help caregivers, Cancer Care offers My Cancer Circle, a free online tool that allows caregivers to create a private, secure community that brings together their network of support.

Do Something for CancerCare: Holiday Edition
The holiday season is a time for gratitude, giving and celebrating with loved ones, but it can also be a complicated time for those impacted by a cancer diagnosis.
From October 31 through December 31, we invite you to Do Something for CancerCare. Bake holiday cookies. Have a virtual gift wrapping or decorating party. Instead of asking for that extra sweater, consider asking for donations to CancerCare as your holiday gift to help those in need.
This is a 60-day holiday season campaign running from the 31st to the 31st. By raising $500 a day, we can reach our goal of $31,000. If you can, please Do Something for CancerCare this holiday season.

Make sure you've signed up for our upcoming Connect Education Workshops! These free workshops provide the latest cancer information straight from leading experts, via phone or online. At the end of the workshop, you'll have a chance to ask the experts your own questions.

CancerCare's Young Professionals Committee (YPC)
CancerCare would like to recognize the ongoing efforts and hard work of the CancerCare Young Professionals Committee. This year, the YPC successfully launched its newest initiative, the YPC Scholarship Program, which awarded two $2,500 grants to students who have recently lost a parent or guardian to cancer. The committee also hosted its first ever virtual comedy event in June, StandUp4CancerCare, which raised equivalent to three new scholarships, far exceeding its goal.
Finally, the YPC recently elected new officers to steer the committee over the next two years. Congratulations to our new officers, Sam, Allison and Cynthia, and the rest of the Young Professionals Committee for a spectacular 2020.
