Drop off at the Dragon
All canned items will be donated to the Roanoke Food Pantry.
Helping people in need can always make a difference! There are so many out there barely able to afford food for themselves, and COVID made that worst. Helping those in need can make a difference by donating canned food
Our goal is to donate 2000 canned food items to the Roanoke Food Pantry.
Let's all pitch in and help the community by restocking the pantry. Every can counts.
PRIZES:
- If CMS donates 2000 cans, you will get a HAT DAY!
-
The grade level that donates the most cans will get an ICE CREAM PARTY IN DRAGON DEN!!!

Office News
Parents,
Car Pool Line
I know that it can be a bit frustrating to “wait” in the carpool line, but please know that we are doing our best to keep the line moving so your wait time is less. The best way to help everyone in the line is to pull up and close the gap between you and the car in front of you before you stop.
We have parents turning down the driveway toward the back of the school to let their child out on the side of the building and some who try to “wait” along that west end of the building after school to avoid the carpool line. Once the child gets in or out of the car, then the parent does a U turn in that driveway to get back out to Kirkwood. That is the access road for our buses…there should not be any cars in that driveway during drop-off or pick-up time. I received three parent reports (different days) of students running across Kirkwood in the afternoon to be picked up in the Gateway parking lot….and all three reports noted that the student “nearly got hit.”
Parents, I certainly understand that we’re all busy and we have places to be. However, there is no destination or event worth risking the safety of your kiddos. If you are dropping off or picking up your child in “non-designated” areas, please help us out by dropping off and picking up in the front only. Thank you so much for helping us ensure the safety of our Dragons!
Stephanie Mangels
Principal, CMS
Lost & Found is overflowing – especially with expensive water containers and lunch boxes! Please have your student check it for any missing clothing items, shoes, books, notebooks, lunch boxes and water containers. Clothing items will be donated on Friday, Nov. 19 (before Thanksgiving Break) and lunch boxes and water bottles will be disposed of at that time. It is very helpful if lunch boxes and water containers are labeled with the student’s name. This way we can call students to the office and try and return items before they are disposed of or donated.
There is a separate Lost & Found at the Front Desk for more valuable items (jewelry, laptop chargers) so please have your student check with Mrs. Gulliver for those types of items.
Food Delivery Services
Please do not use Door Dash, Uber Eats or any of the other food delivery services to send lunch to your student at CMS. These drivers are not vetted by the District, so for safety and security reasons we do not want them in the building.
Southlake Glenn Neighborhood
Parents please do not block the drive ways of the homes in Southlake Glenn. This neighborhood is located to the east of the school and residence have made complaints.

Officer Roberson

STOPit - Hotline reporting system
STOPit is an online reporting tool that allows us the opportunity to intervene with at risk students before they hurt themselves or someone else. It also expands beyond helping those at immediate risk of self-harm but also to support students who are struggling socially or emotionally in other areas.
Our students will have access to the STOPit mobile app which has two simple but powerful features.
Report can be used by students to report incidents to school contacts anonymously.
Messenger can be used to engage in anonymous two-way communication with school contacts.
Both Report and Messenger empower students to stand up for themselves and for one another. They can use STOPit to reach out for help if they or a peer are facing a personal crisis or experiencing bullying, abuse, self-harm, suicidal ideation, or are otherwise in need of assistance. Our goal with STOPit is to create safer, kinder, school communities both online and off.
No student information is needed to use STOPit. The only way personally identifiable information will be accessible through STOPit is if a student voluntarily includes it within the content of a report or message.
You can find more information about STOPit on our CMS Counseling Page under the Counseling Tab. If you have any questions, feel free to contact one of our counselors or administrators.
Thank you,
Counselors...
