This Sunday we are celebrating the Fourth Sunday of Easter, also known as “Good Shepherd Sunday”, as it is marked by the words of Jesus’ words referring to himself as the “Good Shepherd.” We are so fortunate that our Deacon, Mike Choquette, will be preaching at our in-person worship services at 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Del Smith will be playing the piano for us at the 10:30 a.m. service. You may also join us for Morning Prayer on Zoom at 9:00 a.m.
At this time we are collecting paper goods for the Crystal Lake Food Pantry. If you are out shopping please consider picking up extra toilet paper, paper towels, or a box of tissues for our neighbors in need. Paper goods are items that cannot be purchased with food stamps and as you can imagine they are so needed. Thank you to everyone who has already brought in items.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday,
Rev. Fran
Consecration Rescheduled
Following successful brain surgery on April 15, the consecration, ordination, and seating of Bishop-elect Paula Clark has been rescheduled so she has ample time for recovery. The new date is Saturday, June 12, 2021. Presiding Bishop Michael Curry will attend in person and serve as the chief consecrator. More information about the event will be available in the coming weeks. As previously planned, we do know the consecration will be live-streamed.

2021 Flower Chart
The 2021 Flower Chart is now posted. Parishioners are encouraged to select a Sunday closest to a significant date in one’s life, i.e. the anniversary of the death of a loved one or friend, a birthday or wedding anniversary, or perhaps on the occasion of blessings received, and underwrite that Sunday’s flowers. Donation amount is $30. There are donation envelopes under the chart, and the donations may be placed in the offering plate, or brought to the parish office. Thank you!!
Confirmation Class for Youth 6th Grade and Up
Rev. Fran and Dn. Mike will be holding confirmation classes at St. Mary’s for youth, 6th grade and up. If your son or daughter wishes to attend the classes please contact Rev. Fran. She will be in contact with the Bishop’s Office to determine when the Waukegan Deanery Confirmation service will be scheduled in 2021. For now, let us know if you’re interested. More details will follow.
Adult Inquirers’ Classes
The Adult Inquirers’ class prepares adults who wish to be Confirmed or Received into the Episcopal Church. (Those adults who have been confirmed in the Roman Catholic or ELCA Lutheran faiths, do not need to be re-confirmed, but are “received” into the Episcopal Church by the Bishop.) This class is open to any adult wishing to learn more about the Episcopal Church, even if they do NOT wish to be confirmed or received. The classes promise to be engaging, fun, and informative. Please let Fran know if you are interested or have any questions. More details regarding the schedule of classes will be posted as the information becomes available.
Crystal Lake Food Pantry - Paper Please
Donations of paper goods are greatly needed at the Crystal Lake Food Pantry. The pantry is not able to buy paper goods through the food bank, and clients are not able to use their SNAP benefits to purchase any paper goods such as toilet paper, Kleenex, paper towels, and napkins. Bring them to the church any time, and your Board members will get them over to the pantry. Paper goods are items that are lightweight, easy to carry and low cost that can be donated and will be appreciated by the clients. Thanks!!
