April 2021
A Message from Christina
Spring has sprung! Flowers and Impact Austin are in full bloom. We are alive with events, volunteering, and new leadership. Here are some highlights.

On behalf of Impact Austin, I am thrilled to welcome a new Board President, Katherine Mudge, along with an amazing class of board members for FY 2022, which starts July 1. Earind Carter, Lillian Gray, Kimberly Klein, Joanna Nolte, Margaret von Flatern, and Ricki Wax will join IA's board, and our organization will thrive with their leadership. Susan Palombo will take the role of Immediate Past President. We will remain grateful for her transformational, steady leadership during the last two years.

Impact Austin members continue to plan insightful philanthropy education events. Upcoming this season: a kickoff to our fundraising campaign that calls all sheroes to support IA's endowment, a Philanthropy Circle event focused on national trends in philanthropy, our New Member welcome event, and of course, our signature Annual Meeting. Grant Review Committees are hard at work vetting applications to present finalists to our membership. Impact Austin remains unstoppable.

While I would love for you to spend your precious time attending our many upcoming virtual events and committee meetings, I also encourage everyone to go outside and enjoy the sunshine. Many of us have experienced so much loss this year.  I am finding great comfort in the beauty of our surroundings and my connection with each and every one of you.

Be well,

Christina

P.S. Our baby Mateo is three and a half months old, and he laughed for the first time this week! Who knew a laugh could melt my heart. Thanks for all the well wishes this year.
Grants
Community and Education Grant Semi-Finalists Announced
Impact Austin GRC members are gearing up for site visits at the three semi-finalist organization for each grant. Read more on our blog.

The Education Grant semi-finalists are Ecology Action of Texas, Latinitas, and Mainspring Schools.

Finalists will be announced on May 24th and voting packets will be distributed that day. The grants totaling $196,200 will be awarded during Impact Austin's Annual Meeting on June 7.
Girls Giving Grants Chooses Community Partner
After many months of work, Girls Giving Grants (g3) announced the recipient of their 2021 grant just this week! The 76 young women have chosen to support the Center for Survivors of Torture. Their $7,600 grant will be used to purchase tablets and provide internet access to children so they will be able to continue receiving services and attend school without interruption in an otherwise disruptive year.

Since 2006 g3 has awarded $98,000 to organizations in Greater Austin, and while 2021 looked different for all of our processes, this group swiftly adapted to virtual grant review meetings. g3 evaluated 31 applicants and chose 8 semi-finalists which led to two virtual site visits before the final decision was reached. Read more on our blog.

Enrollment for the 2021-2022 class will open in late summer. Contact g3 for more information.
