Monthly News from Washington Park United Methodist Church

|
Every year around this time, we celebrate coming back. Sometimes we’re coming back after a season of travel and summer vacations, sometimes it’s coming back to church after a season of business. But each year, we celebrate the invitation to return not only to our church and our regularly scheduled lives, but also to the core of life and what matters most. Who are we, and who do we want to be moving forward in a new season? This month, we invite you to join us as we explore who we are as Washington Park United Methodists. What is this history we share, and how do we want it to inform who we will be tomorrow? What is our story?
We hope you’ll join us as we begin Telling the Story, a conversation about who we’ve been and who we want to be.
Can’t wait to see you at Rally Day!

All are welcome! Sign Ups are no longer required for worship.
We've made a change in our mask mandate for worship/building use at WPUMC--We now require all individuals 2 years and older wear masks inside of the building, including our sanctuary, regardless of vaccination status.
Additionally, when the weather is nice, we will encourage BYOC (Bring Your Own Coffee) Fellowship time after worship in the courtyard!

Habitat for Humanity

WPUMC is having an online auction to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver. It will begin at 8:00 AM on Sat., Sept, 11 and conclude on Wed., Sept. 22 at 10:00 PM. Here is the link to the online auction site. This site will be completed in time for the start of the auction on Sept. 11. Auction donations are still coming in, but some of our items include:
· Up to five nights in a lovely four-bedroom home in Breckenridge, CO
· A catered five-course meal for six people
· A Channel 9 behind-the-scenes tour for 4 – 6 people, which includes meeting the
on-air personalities
· An evening of live classical guitar music
· A stay in a beautiful townhome in Breckenridge, CO that sleeps up to 10 people
· An official Av’s jersey signed by Phillipp Grubauer
· A stay in an amazing mountain home in Silverthorne, CO that sleeps 8 people
· Darling 5 x 7 notecards and envelopes decorated by or Vacation Bible School children
· 3 – 4 nights in a lovely East Vail condominium that accommodates 8 people
Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver is part of a global nonprofit organization that seeks to put God’s love into action by building hope, homes, and communities. They build and sell homes to hardworking and motivated people who need good and affordable housing.
If you participate in this auction, you will make an extraordinary difference to the homeowners and families who partner with Habitat to build and purchase their own home. For example, Donna and Christopher and their three children were previously living in an unsafe and overcrowded Denver apartment. When they partnered with Habitat, Donna was a full-time para-educator and Christopher was a maintenance technician. After moving into their Habitat home, Donna shares, “We are most excited about making this house our home, growing my dream garden, owning a pet, and making lasting memories.” Click here to learn more about their story.
Thank you for helping families like Donna and Christopher’s family of five. We look forward to the seeing your name on the online auction between Sept. 11 and Sept. 22!

We welcome you to Fall Sunday School classes starting back to a sense of normalcy with age grouped class room in the downstairs area we share with the preschool. Sunday School will run after Time for Children's message in the sanctuary. Parents pick up downstairs after the service using the stairs located in the back of the sanctuary. Starting off we will host 2 age groups and as we grow and you feel more comfortable attending church, we will expand back to three classroom if needed.
Sunday School is for children ages 3 and potty-trained through 6th grade. We will be starting a curriculum that will take us through the Bible highlighting some significant stories and lessons. If you are interested in being a leader in Sunday School, no experience is necessary and we just ask for you to let us run a background check on you. Don't feel like you need to know the Bible well or have the knowledge to provide answers to our children. That's what the curriculum is for! Please email me at [email protected] with any questions about Sunday School or other Children's Ministry offerings.
-Sheri Salis, Director of Children's Ministry
