Universal Broadband Fund receiving applications
  
The federal government has launched the Universal Broadband Fund (UBF) with the objective of providing broadband service to 98% of Canadians by 2026. The UBF is designed to connect Canadians living in rural and remote communities to high-speed Internet at speeds of at least 50/10 Mbps. The program will fund a range of eligible applicants - including local governments and Indigenous entities - to extend broadband infrastructure in areas that do not currently have access to this level of high-speed Internet.  Read more

MLAs with Local Government experience
  
The final count for the 2020 provincial election is now complete, and once again the Legislative Assembly has a substantial contingent of MLAs with local government experience. The next Parliament will include 32 MLAs that have served as a Mayor, Councillor, Area Director or Islands Trustee, representing 37% of the 87 electoral districts in B.C. - one of the highest percentages in recent elections.  Read more

Structural Flood Mitigation funding
  
The Community Emergency Preparedness Fund has an application deadline for the Structural Flood Mitigation stream on November 20, 2020. The intent of this funding stream is to support eligible applicants to prevent, eliminate or reduce the impacts of hazards through construction of structural flood mitigation projects. The maximum eligible funding is $750,000.
