November 9, 2020
Dear Parents,

As Thanksgiving nears, please know I am thankful for our school parents who give so freely of their time and talents for the good of our school.  It is my hope that you enjoy this upcoming holiday with family, friends, and loved ones. This year, you have some extra time to spend together as a family, as our Thanksgiving holidays are November 23-27. May we all be thankful this season for the many blessings we have received!
Sincerely,
Bible Verse
Our Bible verse focus for the month of November is:

Isaiah 41:10: “Fear not for I am with you, do not be dismayed for I am your God”

Our prayer focus is The Memorare.

We would love for you to work with your students at home to learn this verse and prayer.

Veteran’s Day - November 11
american_flag.jpg
This Wednesday, CCS will be honoring all those who served. During morning carpool, our 5th grade students will be lined up along the railing outside of the cafeteria waving flags and cheering. There will also be a special banner posted with names of Veterans. If you or your family member is a Veteran and would like a name to be added to the banner, please email Stephanie Gillis at sgillis@ccscatholic.com by tomorrow afternoon (Nov. 10th.)

In addition, we will have another Red, White, and Blue out of uniform day on Wednesday as a fundraiser for the Washington DC trip. The suggested donation is $1.00.
Reminders about parking lot safety
Please remember that our main lot is closed off in the mornings beginning at 7:20. If there are cones up, please do not drive through them. This is for the safety of our children. If you have school-aged students AND preschool students and go through our carpool line, we are now asking that when you exit the main school carpool line that you do not drive through the parking lot to get to the preschool building. Please follow the carpool traffic out of the lot and locate available parking on the corner of McKenna and Evergreen to escort your preschool student. It is also fine for those with school-aged students AND preschool students to park and allow your school-aged student to walk down the sidewalk to their designated temperature checkpoint (once you have safely escorted them across the street as you walk to the preschool building) There are teachers on duty who are able to supervise the school-aged students along the way. Due to COVID restrictions, please remember that parents are not allowed to escort students beyond the preschool building. With the exception of families with preschool students and designated walkers with walker permission slips on file in the office, all students must be dropped off in the carpool line. Remember, these plans are in place for the safety of all of our students.
Thanksgiving Baskets

The fall season has arrived and with this season comes Thanksgiving. This time of the year always gives us the opportunity to reflect on the many blessings that we have each and everyday. Today as well as all others, it is a time for us to give thanks to God and remember it is from His love that generosity abounds.
In the spirit of the holidays, Corpus Christi students and faculty will be collecting non-perishable, Thanksgiving food items for baskets that are made and delivered throughout our local community.

Below are the items that have been assigned by grade:

Discover Catholic Schools Week
We will join with the National Catholic Education Association in celebrating Catholic schools as we participate in Discover Catholic Schools Week, beginning November 15. This week was created to be a partner with National Catholic Schools Week and is designed to help schools connect with prospective families and community members.

We will be hosting an open house for prospective preschool families on Sunday, November 15 from 1:00-3:00. Tours will be scheduled by appointment. You can reserve a tour time at this link: Preschool Preview. If you know of any families with preschool-aged children that may be interested in learning more about our wonderful school, please let them know about this open house. We also are scheduling tours for families with students of all ages. Please contact Stephanie Gillis (sgillis@ccscatholic.com) for more information.
#iGiveCatholic
Corpus Christi Catholic School along with the Archdiocese of Mobile have joined with arch/dioceses throughout the country to participate in the sixth-annual #iGiveCatholic Giving Day. We will celebrate this day of Catholic giving on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, also known as #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday is a day when individuals around the world come together with the goal to celebrate generosity and to give to their charities of choice. We look forward to this fundraising opportunity. All monies raised during the event will directly benefit our school.
