LICP's signature free community block festival, LIC Springs!, returned for its ninth year – and in person for the first time since 2019 – on Saturday, June 18, 2022. The event took place on Vernon Boulevard and featured over 100 local businesses and organizations, from all around LIC.

As of Monday, June 13, NYC Mayor Eric Adams announced that masks are optional for 2-4 year old children in all early childhood settings. They still strongly recommend that New Yorkers of all ages continue to wear masks indoors and will continue to make masks available for any child or school staff member who wishes to continue wearing them. As of Sunday, June 12, the CDC announced that the Order requiring persons to show a negative COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before boarding a flight to the United States is rescinded. Starting at 12:01AM ET on June 12, 2022, air passengers do not need to get tested and show the COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 prior to boarding a flight to the U.S. More information can be found here.
