Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and their role in U.S. history. The story of Black History Month begins in 1915, half a century after the 13th amendment abolished slavery in the United States. The celebration of Black History Week began in 1926 by Cater G. Woodson, a noted African American historian, scholar, educator, and publisher. It became a month-long celebration in 1976. The month of February was chosen to coincide with the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln.
Let’s get excited!!! To celebrate, 4-H has prepared craft kits for youth who want to complete an American Heritage and World History (Click here to review Class 4212) exhibit for the 2023 Youth Fair. This exhibit is required to have a “World of fun” theme. If you are interested in completing this project, please complete the form in the link below.
Youth must be enrolled in 4Honline.
