North Central Fall Convocation: Going Beyond: Taking about Racism
About this Event

What do words like Racism, Anti-Racism, Systemic Change and Anti-Black bias actually mean? How do we create a brave space to talk about these things in our parish communities? How do we commit to go beyond talk and lean into transformative work as individuals and Christian communities?
Explore these questions together; try activities to help continue these conversations in your parish; and work as a region to dismantle racism.
Join folks from across the North Central Region of ECCT on October 4th from 3-5 pm in Zoom. To register click the more information button below.

Check out below for a message from the Y@C Planning Team

Dear ECCT Clergy and Youth Ministers,

Greetings! I am reaching out to you on behalf of the ECCT Youth @ Convention planning team.

As convention has gone online this year, so has Y@C, and we are excited to have the voice of our youth as part of our convention in this new and exciting way. We invite you to share the invitation below with high school age youth, their parents and other youth leaders in your parish.

If you think you may have youth interested in joining Y@C or you would like to volunteer to help out as a youth mentor – please email Robbie Laughton at associate@trinitysouthport.org.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Order your Cathedral Yard Sign Today!

Our signs are already in some homes in Hartford and West Hartford!

Since you are not able to visit 45 Church Street, our Cathedral could visit you in some ways! We have made a replica of our fence sign and are making it available to those who would like to share God’s love with your neighborhood.

The sign, portraying our Presiding Bishop and noting our Cathedral ‘s website shares a well-known message from Bishop Curry “ Love is the Way” . In a time when we are facing two pandemics, Covid-19 and Racism, love is the only way forward.

Would you like a sign? Canon Jorge and I are ready to drop it off, place it in your front yard and wave hello to you and yours! Please email me at lina.howell@cccathedral.org or call at 860-305-7604.    We are asking for a good will donation of $ 17.00 per sign to cover its cost.  Please mail your checks payable to Christ Church Cathedral or donate online visiting our website at www.cccathedral.org

CHURCH STREET EATS
By Theresa Greaves, CSE Co-Convener
September 27, 2020

This week we prepared for 64 guests and that was just what we had. Though there was no scheduled group for this week we had help from Heather Jordan-Greaves and Gloribel Gonzalez. The lunches this week were made up of two sandwiches, a mandarin orange, a juice box, and Louis' special homemade bread pudding. The soup this week was a hearty chicken noodle vegetable.

Everyone who came through the line was offered hand sanitizer and a mask as needed.

The Church Street Eats steering committee, are ever thankful to God for blessing us with all of our
individual volunteers and groups for their generosity and efforts these past months and assisting us in doing God's work during this unprecedented time.
CHURCH BY THE POND
By Nancy Jacobs, Lay Coordinator
September 26, 2020

Twenty-seven gathered in prayer on the beautiful first weekend of Fall. We are blessed to be able to gather outside and safely unite in prayer. Rev. Carrie Coombs led our congregation today and offered a reflection on Matthew's Gospel. She discussed the two sons - one who followed his father's directions although he said he wouldn't and one who said he'd do his work but did not do so. Rev. Carrie compared it to church people. Looking the part but failing to do God''s will is unacceptable. Doing God's work even when we don't fit traditions is more desirable.

We offered thanks and prayers for those close to us.

Trinity Episcopal Church, Collinsville, provided bagged lunches for our 49 grateful guests this afternoon.
We thank you for your ongoing support to God's Mission. Your pledge may be send via snail mail to our Cathedral ( Cathedral at 45 Church Street Hartford, CT 06103). You may also visit our website to make your pledge or donations or simply click below.

Christ Church Cathedral serves the entire Episcopal Church in Connecticut community for the good of the whole, and is the seat of the bishops. It is "our cathedral." Our Cathedral hosts four congregations in one worshiping community. It's not a parish, as its role is unique in the diocese (see 2015 task force report & resolution). In this its centennial year, Cathedral leaders and Centennial Committee members wish to remind all Episcopalians in CT that by virtue of their membership in a parish, they are members of our Cathedral. All are welcome at any time, and in particular, invited to these events .
