Welcoming a new harvest, a new year
Aceitunas Losada
Last year's cornicabra harvest was next to non existent. We are happy to report that Losada's 2020 cornicabra collection is much improved and stock will be more consistent.
The 2019 harvest for Losada's beloved gordal olives was low, causing prices to increase along with U.S. imposed tariffs on EU goods. This year's pitted gordal harvest improved but the olives are smaller. As Philosophy Foods selects Losada's largest caliber olive for the popular pitted gordal, pricing will remain steady in 2021.
Aintzia Farms
Aintzia Farms organic piparras had a rough 2020 due to the pandemic. The FDA required 2 new tests and each time the piparras were sent out, the lab was closed by the government. As a result, our grower broke stock in the end of 2020. We are pleased to report retail and bulk piparras will be back in our NY warehouse in January.
Cutting the Curd
In November, we had the pleasure of speaking with our friend and host of Heritage Radio's Cutting the Curd, Cara Warren. We discussed the world of imports in a pandemic and how the holidays may be a little bit brighter than we thought this season.
