A PRAYER FOR THANKSGIVING
Thanks to all who contributed to the Youth Group Thanksgiving Drive for the Community Food Pantry.
A General Thanksgiving

Accept, O Lord, our thanks and praise for all that you have done for us.

We thank you for the splendor of the whole creation, for the beauty of this world, for the wonder of life, and for the mystery of love.

We thank you for the blessing of family and friends, and for the loving care which surrounds us on every side.

We thank you for setting us at tasks which demand our best efforts, and for leading us to accomplishments which satisfy and delight us.

We thank you also for those disappointments and failures that lead us to acknowledge our dependence on you alone.

Above all, we thank you for your Son Jesus Christ; for the truth of his Word and the example of his life; for his steadfast obedience, by which he overcame temptation; for his dying, through which he overcame death; and for his rising to life again, in which we are raised to the life of your kingdom.

Grant us the gift of your Spirit, that we may know him and make him known; and through him, at all times and in all places, may give thanks to you in all things. Amen.

STEWARDSHIP 2021Stewardship
STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN UPDATE

We are abundantly thankful for all of the pledges that have been made to date, and for the prayerful consideration of pledges yet to be made. In difficult times, we as a parish once again are reaffirming our gratitude for what God has given us and our commitment to St. Barnabas through our financial support.

As of today, there are 74 pledges totaling $333,520 toward our $400,000 goal.

IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO MAKE YOUR 2021 PLEDGE!

You can pledge online at the link below. You may also return your pledge card or contact either of us.

Every pledge, large or small, is vital to sustaining our church, especially in this uncertain time.

Blessings,

Jane and David

After-Dinner at the Rectory
Advent Program of Readings and Reflection via ZOOM

For Advent this year, I invite you to come sup with me and enjoy a little wine or non-alcoholic beverage after dinner on Monday nights beginning November 30.

The formal program, starting at 7:30PM, will involve an Advent reading from me with reflection time. Then, for those who would like, we will have time to linger awhile for catch-up and conversation. We will wrap things up at 8:30PM, sharp.

To add to the sense of occasion, church member Judy Brazong (proprietor of My Sherry & More on Main Street in Irvington) helped me pick out a boldly purple red wine called Eruption, harvested from the slopes of an extinct volcano. All proceeds from this purchase will go to the Community Food Pantry in Tarrytown as part of St. B's on-going desire to respond to the huge up-tick in need that people in our Rivertown neighborhoods are experiencing at this time.

Election 2020--Taking Stock, Looking Forward

In the wake of one of our nation's most bitterly contested and consequential elections, the members of Rivertowns Episcopal Parishes Action on Inclusion and Race (REPAIR) are inviting you to an online gathering to reflect on the state of our communities and our nation. We'll meet via ZOOM Link on Wednesday, December 2, at 7:30 p.m., to consider these questions:
  • How are you feeling in the wake of the election?
  • As you consider all that has happened during 2020, what moves you to express thanksgiving? What are you moved to lament? What moves you to feel anxiety for our future?
  • What has been the impact of the campaign and the election on your relationships with friends, family members, neighbors, colleagues, and fellow citizens?
  • How has the election affected our churches, neighborhoods, towns, and our nation?
  • Finally, what kinds of things can we do, as individuals and as a group, to begin building a more whole, inclusive, and just society?
As we meet, we'll strive to:
  • Hear as many voices as possible.
  • Listen actively and with respect.
  • Lean into discomfort.
  • Speak from our own experiences.
  • Share ideas and feelings not to agree but to gain greater understanding.
Our goal will be to seek a place of common understanding from which we can begin the journey of the coming months and years in a spirit of hope, even as we recognize the challenges and dangers ahead. Please contact Karl Weber with any questions. You're invited to join us at ZOOM Link.
