Dear Sponsors:
When Joseph Mwengea and I began a small sponsorship program for 14 students in 2005, we never could have imagined that by 2021 that small seed would grow to the sponsorship of nearly 350 students – half of whom would be in college!
Each of you has been part of the team that has made this happen. I feel such gratitude for each of you! The lives of hundreds of students and their families are forever changed because of your generosity and the work of Kenya Keys.
This past year has been such a challenging one in Kenya, as you can imagine. It has necessitated a change to the sponsorship structure... the first change in many years! For 13 years, the annual sponsorship has been $375 for high school and $750 for college.
Each year the cost for each sponsored student has risen, but we have been able to supplement tuition fees with other donations. This year, however, the cost of school in Kenya has jumped dramatically, and we are no longer able to offset the difference.
Beginning in September, annual sponsorships will increase to $450 for high school students and $900 for college students.
Your sponsorship still covers the entire year of school tuition, and parents will still pay for food, housing, and school supplies whenever possible.
I wanted to let you know about this change as many of you will be receiving renewal notices in September from Linda Allen, an eleven-year veracious veteran volunteer, and our director of sponsorship.
Kenya Keys is built on dedication, loyalty, and a passion for education.
Thank you for caring about these students as much as we do!
None of this could happen without you.
With warmest appreciation,
Rinda Hayes
