November is Gratitude Month
For many decades now, we in the Fellowship have formally carved out from the calendar, the month of November, as a time to express our collective gratitude for our individual sobriety. Interestingly, no one is exactly sure why November was chosen.

Typically a journal is kept (or phone app), each day taking the time to mentally take a break and physically writing or typing your thoughts. The key is to always try to think of something new as your answer; to dig deep into all that you are grateful for.

 Landmark Study Says AA Works
In 2020, a rigorous independent study published by the medical journal, Cochrane Database of Systematic Review, examining 25 previous studies around the world, found AA works as well or better than other scientifically proven treatments for alcoholism.

Found this a very interesting read:
Grapevine asked, "The studies you aggregated were pretty sizeable: 150 scientists, 67 institutions, almost 11,000 people. What specifically did you find?"

Dr. Humphreys, "The bottom line is that people who experience 12 Step Facilitation in AA are 20-60% more likely to end up abstinent than they are with other treatment like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, outpatient treatment delivered by mental health professional, meditation or certain education programs."

This study is accessible and free. If someone says AA is a bunch of crap, hand it to them. When you are talking about a disease that kills 3.3 million people, this is something you have to pay attention to.
