In celebration of the Country Club’s 100th anniversary, the city of Coral Gables will provide free gelato at Le Parc Café, located at the Coral Gables Golf & Country Club, on Saturday, April 15, from noon to 5 pm. (Sponsored by Commissioner Menendez)

The future is bright! Congratulations, to all the high schools that competed in CodeMania I at the University of Miami in Coral Gables! Our Lady of Lourdes Academy won the CodeMania I Award. Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart won the Commissioners Choice Award, and Belen Jesuit won the Innovation Award. Signalization at the intersection of Granada Boulevard and Blue Road

The City Commission discussed the traffic congestion at the intersection of Granada Boulevard and Blue Road and the possibility of adding a left turn signal for northbound traffic on Granada to alleviate the recurring bottleneck traffic. (Sponsored by Commissioner Menendez)

Tallahassee Legislative Trip
|
Mayor Lago, Commissioner Anderson, City staff, and myself, met with state leaders in Tallahassee to advocate for state funding for our City's capital improvement projects and other issues important to our community. We teamed up with the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce for our meetings with the Florida Legislature.

A Resolution of the City Commission passed unanimously reaffirming the City’s condemnation of antisemitism and bigotry and designating the Mayor as a signatory to the Mayors’ compact to combat hate and extremism. (Sponsored by Mayor Lago, Commissioner Anderson, and Commissioner Menendez)

A Resolution of the City Commission was unanimously approved accepting a recommendation to waive the competitive bid process of the Procurement Code to help expedite the completion of repairs and renovation work at the Granada Diner aka Burger Bob's. 12th Annual Development Agreement Meeting was recently held between the City of Coral Gables and the University of Miami Board of Trustees and Administration. Coral Gables and UM historically share more than a spirit of cooperation, we share a true partnership.

All new playground equipment is celebrated at one of our beautiful neighborhood parks in Coral Gables at the corner of Oak Avenue and Brooker Street. Pierce Park is a great place to enjoy an afternoon with family.

"Scooby Doo, Where Are You!" The City recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for our new large off-leash Dog Park, located between 1505 Ponce de Leon Boulevard and Phillips Park.

Relocation of two 50-year-old Live Oak trees weighing 100 thousand pounds each as part of the creation of a new community park on Salzedo Street with wonderful shade and amenities. It would take close to half a century to re-create such amazing canopy. Congratulations to the City Commission for requiring the creation of a community park above and beyond the requirements of the City Code.

Biltmore Way Streetscape Workshop

During the Biltmore Way Streetscape Workshop, we listened to Coral Gables residents’ ideas and concerns about the current and future Biltmore Way streetscape. It was a very productive meeting that allowed our residents to be an active part of the process. Several design options were presented by the City of Coral Gables staff and the Dover Kohl firm.

Nearly 10 years ago I helped bring the Blue Devils Baseball Academy to the Youth Center. It's a joy to see so many kids playing America's favorite pastime in our hometown.
