TUSD staff have completed phase 1 of our safety trainings, focused on Stop the Bleed and Narcan administration.
Developed by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma, Stop the Bleed training encourages bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. Through more than 40 training sessions, staff most mobile during an emergency studied bleeding control curriculum in order to be prepared to assist in the event of an emergency. Staff from across all of our schools, Maintenance and Operations (M&O), Educational Support Center (EOC) and the District Office participated.
In addition, staff also received Narcan training, sharing with them important information regarding the administration of this nasal spray in the event of an opioid overdose. Narcan is currently available at all of our campuses, M&O, EOC and District Office so that we can be prepared if there is a need. We are grateful to Jennifer Allen, Health Services Coordinator, for leading these trainings to better prepare our staff for an emergency.
