As a reminder, in conjunction with the LP 2022 program, LHC has extended a few opportunities to alumni as Learning 2.0 activities. More details may be found at the LHC website and the sign-up may be accessed by clicking here. In the event of attendance caps, priority is given to current class members; however, as space becomes available, slots will be opened up to interested, active alumni.

LHC is happy to announce that Sasha Butler has joined our staff team, as Program Director for Leadership Premier and Leadership U. Sasha comes to LHC with extensive experience in the non-profit and education sectors.
The LU Class of 2021 recently participated in the annual 3D HC Day to “Dig Deep and Discover” Howard County. Students learned about several host organizations and were able to incorporate some service-learning as part of their experience. Host organizations included: Patapsco State Park , CAC’s Community Garden, Days End Farm Horse Rescue, and the Community Ecology Institute (CEI). Leadership Us's Equity team, Equity Works, is hosting a student art exhibit Saturday, November 6 from 1 to 3 pm at the Elkridge branch of the Howard County Library. The goal is to provide students an opportunity to express their feelings about equity in a fun and educating way. Click here for more information.

The Leadership U Mental Health team, Minding the Mind, recently volunteered at the Elliott City 50+ Center to play bingo with 16 seniors with memory loss and other cognitive disorders. The LU participants played bingo with seniors and engaged in social conversations with the goal to decrease isolation and loneliness and while enhancing socialization and sense of purpose. The Team will return to the Center to play a trivia game Wednesday, November 3.

Community Events
The Horizon Foundation, along with the United Way of Central Maryland, the Community Foundation of Howard County and, the Women's Giving Circle is hosting a free, live virtual event Tuesday, November 9 to select this year's Changemaker! Finalists include The 3rd, 4Girls2STEM, Alston for Athletes, The Community Ecology Institute, Howard County Lynching Truth & Reconciliation, Inc., HoCo Pirate Adventures, Inc., Oakland Mills Online, Kits to Heart, Upcycled, Inc., and the Howard County Autism Society. United Way of Central Maryland is accepting grants of up to $10,000 to benefit nonprofits and other organizations in the Baltimore region. The United Way Neighborhood Grants, launched in 2020, are open to neighborhood-centered organizations with total operating budgets under $500,000.
