WELCOME HOME. YES, THAT IS SOUTHERN COOKIN’
YOU SMELL ON THE TABLE
Meet Candi Dailey, owner of Ruby’s Southern Kitchen in Bowie, Maryland. Ruby’s has been serving incredible southern cooking via catering since 2017, however they officially opened their restaurant in 2018.
After catering several events for federal organizations and designing restaurant concepts for numerous other companies, Ms. Dailey decided it was time to do it for herself. Thus, Ruby’s (named after Candi’s grandmother) was born.
Candi originally started in Prince George’s County because she felt that the community was lacking a true soul food southern style restaurant and wanted to create a place that felt like home. Always reminding people of true southern hospitality. For as Ms. Dailey stated, when people come to Ruby’s we want them to feel at home, like they’re walking in to their family’s house. You know that you will be greeted with some love and some good food. And [pre-pandemic] greeted with a hug.”
Like other several other restaurants, Ruby’s has been greatly affected by the COVID pandemic. However, because they always been a carry-out style business they were not affected is bad as other places. In addition, Ruby’s Southern Kitchen fortunately upgraded their online ordering system and made it even easier for Prince Georgians to get an incredible meal.
Whether it is fried chicken, or mac and cheese with candied yams, or their greens; when you come to Ruby’s Southern Kitchen you will always find their down home southern-style cuisine cooked to perfection.
