The summer break offers time and opportunities that are not always possible during the school year. I love having more time to spend in the different classrooms, observing, working with and getting to know the children better. The teachers are able to tap into their creative side, providing creative learning experiences and the children get to work alongside new friends. Both the St.Apkar and St. Anthony campuses have been busy, joyful places, making coming to camp or work a pleasure each day. I wish you all a continued safe and happy summer and look forward to August when we are all back on campus.

In House Field Trips
In order to extend the learning and fun in a safe, developmentally appropriate manner, we host unique learning experiences on our campuses throughout the summer. These have included music, animal encounters, visits from community helpers a puppet show and stem education activities. The children have enjoyed the activities and made us proud by showing respectful, active participation in each.

Summer Camp
Our summer program has been very popular and so much fun for the children and adults alike. The teachers have enjoyed thinking outside the box to bring interesting, fun and unique activities to the classrooms. Each week bring new topics in science, art, sensory exploration and practical life. Using their expertise, they also weave in daily reading, language and math lessons throughout.
In the month of July, Ms Brittany Suero and Ms Preeti Kulkarni -who are all rested and refreshed-will step in and continue the strong program which has been established. This allows for Ms Pamela and Ms. Ashton to have some time off.

Whether your child is returning to school or starting for the first time, mid-July is the ideal time to get them ready for the back-to-school transition. When it comes to waking up earlier, having more structure to the day, and diving head-first into the preschool or kindergarten curriculum, some children can have a rougher time adjusting than others.
At Mission Montessori, we want to help students have a peaceful and inspiring start to school so they can kick off a successful and fun year of learning and growing. We want to work together with families to prepare for the new school year.

After a couple of months of limitless downtime and staying up late, getting back into the routine of school is often the biggest challenge families face in the fall.
With that said, now is an opportune time to not only get your child back into a routine but the rest of the family, as well. Consistency and leading by example are the best ways to get your child accustomed to their back-to-school routine.
Here are some Montessori back-to-school tips that can help your family set a routine:
- Wake up around the same time each day.
- Eat breakfast together.
- Read, do yoga, or meditate together in the mornings.
- Shut down phones, TV, tablets, & computers around the same time each night.
- Work on a puzzle or play a board game in the evening.
- Take the family dog for a walk after dinner.
- Devote Saturday or Sunday to cleaning the house, washing, & putting away laundry.
