holds ribbon cutting and white coat ceremonies
WesternU's College of Health Sciences-Northwest held white coat ceremonies for its inaugural Doctor of Physical Therapy Class of 2024 and the incoming Class of 2025 on Saturday, July 9.

CHS-Northwest also held a Donor Dinner, ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house, celebrating its new home in Lebanon, Oregon and acknowledging the support of the community.

WesternU COMP student accepted into prestigious NIH research program
WesternU College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific student Rebecca Kuan has been accepted into the prestigious National Institutes of Health (NIH) Medical Research Scholars Program (MRSP).

The MRSP attracts the brightest talent from across the country. Medical, dental and veterinary students live on the intramural campus of NIH in Bethesda, Maryland and conduct basic, clinical or translational research for one year.

WesternU College of Pharmacy Associate Professor David Sanchez, PhD, is featured in Health Digest. The reporter conducted an extensive interview with Dr. Sanchez on COVID-19 boosters - who is eligible for a fourth dose, why vaccinated people should get the booster, and the future of COVID vaccines and boosters.

COMP Professor Edward J. Wagner, PhD, has been selected as the National Physiology Chair for the Foundational Biomedical Sciences Division of the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME), effective January 2023.

This appointment was unanimously endorsed by the NBOME Board of Directors, NBOME Executive Leadership Team, and National Faculty Council, which consists of senior staff, senior administrative staff, and medical staff.

CDM Professor Dr. Q. Quinn Li (formerly GCBS) joined a worldwide team of 40 scientists from 11 countries and regions to fine-tune the transcriptome of the model species Arabidopsis.

The results, “A high-resolution single-molecule sequencing-based Arabidopsis transcriptome using novel methods of Iso-seq analysis, were recently published in the well-known journal Genome Biology (2021 Impact factor 17.9). It describes the most comprehensive reference transcripts thus far for Arabidopsis, twice the amount of the previously available dataset, through Iso-seq long read technology provided by Pac-Bio sequencing platform. The team also established a new pipeline for large data processing, particularly a new standard for splicing variant calling. The new database provides the foundation for further precision genome and transcriptome research in the field.
