Help us make each day, the best day for those living with or affected by ALS in Alberta.

Every November, countless organizations like ours come together to raise spirits and celebrate #GivingTuesday. In the coming weeks, we will be featuring heartwarming client stories (and YOU have a chance to be featured in them!) on our social media and website. If you want to get involved, keep an eye on our pages as we gear up for the big day of November 30th!

The “opening day of the giving season,” it’s a time when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for favourite causes. In yet another year that has seen our community rally together despite the COVID-19 pandemic, we hope that on GivingTuesday you will help us raise funds to continue to support our families in the Alberta ALS community.

Since the start of the COVID pandemic, the ALS Society of Alberta has made possibilities happen for hundreds of Albertans and fulfilled countless equipment requests and work orders across the province, providing new equipment, replacements and repairs while using alternate delivery service models to follow safety protocols.

The cost of equipment borrowed by our families over the course of the disease can range from tens of thousands to well over $100,000 – and thanks to your support, this cost is reduced to $0. Please view and share this video with your friends and family to provide an example of how quickly these costs can escalate and what we can provide.

We have unfortunately seen significant drops in revenue from events in 2020 and 2021, as we have kept each other safe by staying apart. Due to the careful stewardship of funds from our donors, we have been able to continue through the pandemic. We have adapted and managed our costs appropriately, while aggressively pursuing alternate revenues. GivingTuesday 2021 is a key campaign as we look forward to the coming year.

We rely on the support of community members like you to ensure we are there for each person and family who needs us. The sense of community, especially during these times of isolation, has been so important for our clients, their families and caregivers.

Watch for upcoming sharing of powerful stories about our families and how they’ve been “making possibilities” using our equipment loan program. This is how you can help make the impossible, possible again.

Please consider a meaningful gift on GivingTuesday, either through a donation, a Facebook fundraiser, or simply helping spread the word. As an independent provincial charity that receives zero government funding, the support of our community is so very much appreciated.
