Optimist Club Fall Sausage Sale

From Kevin Welsh

The Optimist Club Fall Italian Sausage sale is underway. The Optimist Club's Sausage Sales are the primary fundraiser for our Scholarship Fund. Last year we gave out $6,000, $1000 each to 6 graduating seniors from Sahuarita and Walden Grove HS. This year, the Sausage Sale is even more important with the food truck events and catering opportunities reduced. Thanks in advance for your support.

MMM Gets a Facelift

From Judy Hayes, Newsletter Lady

Did you notice that the Monday Morning Memo has a new look? When I started working on this issue, much to my surprise I discovered that Constant Contact, the program we use to develop the MMM, has released a new version, and just about everything has changed. Over the next week, hopefully I'll educate myself. Please bear with me as I figure it out. Oh well, we were probably ready for a facelift anyway!

Bird-safe Buildings: Get Your Windows Ready for Fall Migration

From the Tucson Audibon Society

Thanks Craig Surprise for sharing

Bird migration is in full swing in Arizona. Millions of birds travel through our area to their wintering grounds every fall. This time is also a dangerous one for birds. 365 million to 1 billion birds die from window strikes every year, in the US alone. Most of these window strikes occur in low-rise buildings.

We can help birds get to their wintering grounds safely as well as provide a safe environment for resident birds. Here is what you can do:

• Reduce artificial light at night. All outdoor lighting should be shielded downward and serve a purpose.

• Report your window strikes to help us learn about the species and areas affected.

• Make windows visible to birds. Decals, tape, paint, or cord can be used to treat the outside of the window to alert birds of a barrier.

Choose To Recycle Right

From Waste Management

Thanks Craig Surprise for sharing

Chances are you recycled something today. Maybe it was a soda can or a cardboard box from an online purchase?

Every time you choose to recycle, you are giving that item a second life to serve a new purpose and save natural resources. Now more than ever it’s important that only the right items, free from contamination, make their way into your recycling bin to help keep recycling, and our shared planet, sustainable.

Knowing these rules and putting them into practice during your recycling journey will help you recycle more efficiently. And it will help to ensure everything that makes it into your bin finds a second life. Get more information on the Waste Management website.

Recycle clean bottles, cans, paper and cardboard.

Keep food and liquid out of your recycling.

No loose plastic bags and no bagged recyclables.

Groaners....

After wondering all night where the sun had gone, it finally dawned on me.

A guy walks into a doctors office and says doc you gotta help me, I’ve got a real Twitter problem. The doc says, sorry I’m not following you.

What type of nails do carpenters hate to hammer? Fingernails!!

Sometimes I like to look think back when my dad used to put me in a tire and roll me down the hill…. Those were the Goodyear’s!!
