God's Work, Our Hands
Rev. Tor K. Berg
Jesus taught in Luke 6:27-28, "But I say to you that you listen, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you."

On the surface of this teaching we can agree that we should pray for all people, even our enemies. The deeper struggle with this passage is what if we are the oppressed, what if the hate directed at us is in the form of violence, what if I am the abused? Am I to honor this other with empty words of prayer? What am I to pray for? Will praying stop my enemy from lying about me? Will praying hold the hand of the one who hates me? Will praying stop the rain of abuse?
Pastor Berg will lead these special programs dealing with 2021 current events. Please plan to participate in these informative sessions.

January 2021
2021 FLC Library Project:

What will you remember about 2020 (the pandemic year)?

We are creating a historical document and power point presentation of our individual memorable experiences from this pandemic time. We are asking you to contribute to this historical production by sharing your pandemic story. Please emphasize how your life has changed or what you will remember about this year.

The telling of your memory can be a photo, poem, story, drawing or art piece. Photos (or photo of art/drawing) should be submitted as a jpg. Please email your memory experience to be preserved in our historical archives, to Linda Siebert. We are asking you to start creating your memory piece NOW! Watch for more details in upcoming newsletters.

Submission deadline was January 31. Please check with Linda Siebert if you're still interested in participating. Presentation of our life changing events will be in March 2021. (FLC’s 135th anniversary is March 14.) Questions—contact one of the library committee members.
The above link will updated with November's financial information after the Finance Committee is able to review the financial statements later in November.
These are anxious and trying times for all of us. Social distancing has changed how First Lutheran provides mission and ministry. We are all eager to have worship and all ministries return to normal.

What has not changed are the expenses for mission and ministry. Thank you to all who have continued their faithful giving.

Listed below are ways for you to share with First Lutheran.
  • Mail in your checks. We are still doing weekly deposits.
  • Set up electronic giving by using the Give Online button at flc.bothell.org, or calling Vanco services at 800-675-7430. Note: there is a one time fee to FLC for the set up of bank to bank transactions. There are approximately 3% transaction fees on all credit card donations, making credit card and debit card giving more effective if combined into a monthly transaction, rather than smaller amounts, weekly.
  • Set up one time or auto payments through your bank’s pay service

Thank you for your faithfulness.
