Are you interested in being a leader of the American Institute of Architects Middle East Chapter?
 
AIA Middle East is looking for members interested in serving the Chapter's leadership for 2021. The following elected Officer positions are to be vacated by the end of 2020:

1. Vice President/President Elect
2. Secretary
3. Treasurer

The business of this Chapter is managed by the Executive Committee, which is composed of the elected officers of this Chapter, specifically, the President, Vice President/President-elect, Secretary, Treasurer and Immediate Past President. The Executive Director (appointed by the Executive Committee and non-voting) also serves as a member of the Executive Committee. Each elected officer shall serve a term of one year or until a successor has qualified.

Eligibility:
All Officers of the Chapter shall be full AIA Architect members assigned to the chapter in good standing.


1. The 2021 Vice President/2021 President-elect

The Vice President/President-elect possess all the powers and performs all the duties of the President in the event of the absence of the President or of the President's disability, refusal, or failure to act and shall perform such other duties as are properly assigned by the Executive Committee or the President. This is a three-year commitment in which the elected person will become the Chapter President in the second year and Immediate Past President in the Third year.

2. The 2021 Secretary

The Secretary acts as the recording and corresponding secretary of the Chapter and the Executive Committee, and attends all meetings and keep minutes of the proceedings; has custody of and safeguards and keeps in good order all property of this Chapter, except property that is placed under the charge of the Treasurer; issue all notices of this Chapter; keep its membership roll; sign all instruments and matters that require the attestation or approval of this Chapter, except as otherwise provided in the bylaws; keep its seal, and affix it on such instruments as require it; prepare the reports of the Executive Committee and this Chapter; in collaboration with the President, have charge of all matters pertaining to the meetings of this Chapter, and shall perform all other duties usual and incidental to the office.

3. The 2021 Treasurer

The Treasurer has charge and exercises general supervision of the financial affairs and keeps the records and books of account of this Chapter, prepares the budgets, collects amounts due, and gives receipts for and has the custody of its funds and monies and makes all disbursements of funds; has custody of its securities and of its instruments and papers involving finances and financial commitments; conducts the correspondence relating to the office; and performs all duties usual and incidental to the office.

The Treasurer is not personally liable for any loss of money or funds of this Chapter or for any decrease in the capital, surplus, income or reserve of any fund or account resulting from any acts performed in good faith in conducting the usual business of the office.

4. DIRECTORS

Each year the President of the Chapter, with the concurrence of the Executive Committee appoint Directors for a maximum term of one year to fulfill such duties and obligations as may from time to time become necessary or desirable and who, if they are so qualified and the officers so desire, may serve as members of the Executive Committee. Directors are voting members of the board.

Each of the following Directors' positions focus on an area of specialty and assume specific responsibilities. The current Board of Directors is comprised of the following:
* Fellowship
* Events
* Membership
* Continuing Education
* Communications
* Fundraising

Eligibility:
All Directors of the Chapter shall be full AIA Architect, Associate AIA or International Associate members assigned to the chapter in good standing.

5. COUNTRY REPRESENTATIVES

The President of the Chapter shall also, with the concurrence of the Executive Committee, appoint Country Representatives for a maximum term of one year to fulfill such duties and obligations to represent the chapter within the country where the member resides and within the territory covered by the chapter. Country Representatives are not voting members of the board of directors.

The domain of this Chapter includes the following (16) countries in the MENA region: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, UAE and Yemen.

The Country Representative position offers the opportunity to lead and develop the AIA's presence in a territory, carrying with it responsibility and reward. From this leadership position, one will have greater exposure to the network of AIA leaders internationally, as well as becoming the recognizable face of the AIA brand and quality it represents to peers and industry professionals within each CR's respective territory. The position requires enthusiasm and strong skills in management, organization, promotion, networking and above all, visioning, that can be championed in one's other professional endeavors.

Eligibility:
All Country Representatives of the Chapter shall be full AIA Architect, Associate AIA or International Associate members assigned to the chapter in good standing.

If you are interested in any of the above-mentioned positions, Please submit your letter of interest by Sunday 06 December describing why you would like to serve the chapter in the specific position. If your candidacy is selected for the election process, this will be posted to the membership as your platform for your candidacy. Please also include your CV. You must be a current assigned member in good standing and meet the aforementioned eligibility requirements.

The election will take place from 07 December to 14 December with the winning candidates announced on 16 December 2020.
