ALI Faculty Board Member Jerold Kayden, of the Harvard Graduate School of Design, led a brand-new ALI Deep Dive on Resilient Cities in early April. Professor Kayden convened 15 speakers from Harvard and external organizations to explore key challenges and opportunities to creating resilient, healthy, and sustainable cities for the future. Peter Liang (2021) launched a national campaign called "Stand with AAPI" to call on local K-12 school district leaders to denounce anti-Asian racism and implement concrete measures to prevent anti-Asian incidents. 

Jim Lytle (2020) was elected to the Board of Directors of FAIR Health, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing transparency to healthcare costs and health insurance information through data products, consumer resources, and health systems research support.

Tom Sperry (2020) launched an investment program at ISPD that is being led by the World Bank. This program will emphasize the work of women-led or owned initiatives in Palestine.

Allyson Maynard-Gibson (2019) has joined the Justice Leadership Group where she will share first-hand experience leading justice change at the highest political level and support those who are now in leadership positions.

Marietta Robinson (2019) will be interviewing Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and current President and CEO of the International Peace Institute, at the International Association of Women Judges' biennial conference in New Zealand.

Sam Flax (2018) was appointed a full-time visiting professor of practice at Georgetown University's Law Center. Mr. Flax is developing and teaching a seminar on Corporate Purpose and ESG Issues.

Doug Henderson (2018) has joined board of SocialFinanceUS, a nonprofit that is spreading a model in which training programs get paid if students get hired, not just if they enroll. This organization's innovative pay-for-success approach was recently featured in the New York Times

Carol Goss (2014) was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Michigan chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. Ms. Goss has spent over four decades advocating for children, families, and their neighborhoods.

Ann MacDougall (2013) has partnered with The OpEd Project on two issue-based "public voices" programs. Ms. MacDougall is helping accelerate the impact and ideas of leaders working on pressing issues including longevity  and climate justice.

Faculty & Staff News
ALI Faculty Executive Committee Member Howard Koh (SPH/HKS) says primary care physicians are the most trusted messengers for patients during times of crisis. Featured in The Boston Globe, Dr. Koh suggests that primary care doctors can help reach those who have not yet signed up for a COVID-19 vaccination.

ALI CORE Faculty Member Erica Chenoweth (HKS) explains what civil resistance is, what it is not, how it works, and its long-term impacts in her new book Civil Resistance: What Everyone Needs to Know. Prof. Chenoweth defines civil resistance and explains how it can help to prosecute a conflict without directly harming or threatening to harm an opponent. 

ALI Deep Dive Chair Professor Mike Smith (SEAS) convened ALI's first-ever Technology Innovation Deep Dive.
