Dear Summit Academy Families:

With Fall Break quickly approaching we want to take this opportunity to update you on a few matters. The following are dates related to break:
September 30: No School - Staff Professional Development
October 1: School Closed
October 4: Conferences
COVID-19 PROTOCOLS
We want to reiterate that our COVID-19 protocols and guidelines have not changed at this time. As is the case with JCPS and other private/parochial schools in Jefferson County, masks will continue to be required when indoors. We will continue to monitor CDC, state and local health department communications and upon our return from Fall Break we will consider adjustments should we feel it is appropriate.
PROCEDURES FOR POSITIVE CASES
Should a student or staff member test positive for COVID-19, we will work with the local health department to facilitate a case investigation and contact tracing. Per their guidelines, fully-vaccinated students and staff do not need to quarantine following an exposure if he/she is not experiencing symptoms. Thus, if you want your student to be considered for such, please submit proof of vaccination to our main office. Unvaccinated students who are in close contact with any identified positive cases will be required to quarantine per local health department guidelines.
We have been fortunate that only a relatively small number of students and staff have been affected by COVID-19 thus far this school year. You may have noticed my absence at carpool the past couple of weeks. Given my aim is to be transparent, I feel compelled to share that despite being vaccinated, I contracted COVID-19 while traveling a couple of weeks ago. Having fulfilled my isolation period, I am very glad to be back at school.
Last, we want to remind everyone of the following guidelines of note:

  • Temperatures should be taken prior to leaving your home
  • If your child is feeling unwell, please keep them at home
  • Carpool lanes are NOT grade level specific, please fill lanes evenly
  • Students will wear masks at all times, except when outside, eating lunch or directed by their teacher
  • Hand sanitizing stations will be used throughout the day
  • Lunch will be held in the cafeteria with limited and assigned seating per table
  • No microwaves available
  • Water bottles are to be brought daily by students as fountains will be closed
Thank you for your continued support and understanding,
