The College of Veterinarians of BC (CVBC or the College) is a self-governing professional regulatory body created under The Veterinarians Act of the Province of British Columbia. CVBC was established in 2010 through the transformation of the BC Veterinarian Medical Association into the College. The College is governed by a 9-member Board of Directors (the Council) comprised of five veterinarians and four public members and is responsible for ensuring that the public and animals of BC are served by a competent and ethical profession. CVBC regulates approximately 2,000 veterinarians (registrants), and has an annual budget of approximately $3M, a $4M investment portfolio, and a subsidiary captive insurance company. 

The Registrar is appointed by and reports to the College’s Council. This is a diverse role that encompasses four key result areas:

  • Ensure that College processes, operations, committees, Regulations and Bylaws, Standards of practice, and Code of Ethics meet the legislative and regulatory mandate to serve and protect the public interest.
  • Work with the Council to develop a strategic vision and plan for the College, provide leadership and guidance in developing tactical plans, and ensure strategic initiatives are achieved within agreed upon timelines and budget.
  • Build and maintain effective stakeholder relations including the public, government, veterinarians, and other provincial bodies and stakeholder groups.
  • Establish and build a strong and collaborative team and manage the effective administration of the College and its operations including human resources, financial management, budgeting, IT, communications, member registration and complaints and investigations.

Engineers and Geoscientists BC regulates and governs these professions under the authority of the Engineers and Geoscientists Act, which will transition to the new Professional Governance Act (PGA) when it comes into effect in 2021. The organization is charged with protecting the public interest by setting and maintaining high academic, experience, and professional practice standards for over 38,000 registrants. Individuals licensed by Engineers and Geoscientists BC are the only persons permitted by law to undertake and assume responsibility for engineering and geoscience projects in the province.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), under the authority of Council, serves as its singular official link to the operating organization and is responsible for the execution of the Strategic Service Plan and the Council Work Plan. Inspiring, coaching and guiding staff (100) and volunteers, the CEO oversees Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s programs, services and operations in a fiscally responsible manner.

The College of Early Childhood Educators (the College) regulates more than 57,000 members of the early childhood education profession in the public interest, pursuant to the Early Childhood Educators Act, 2007. The College issues Certificates of Registration, has established a Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for the profession, and responds to concerns about members through a complaints and discipline process. The College is a not-for-profit organization with a staff of 60 and an annual operating budget of approximately $10M.

Reporting to the Manager, Registration, the key areas of responsibility are to:

  • Develop policies, standards, guidelines and tools related to the approval of education programs.
  • Lead the assessment of institutional applications for educational program approval as well as the monitoring and auditing of existing programs.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate new and/or alternate approaches to assessing individual applications for registration based on current research and best practices.
  • Review and make recommendations on individual applicant/member education plans in light of the College’s current registration requirements.

We are seeking a collaborative, empowering and supportive coach and leader to manage the College’s registration activities. The Complaints Director position is a senior management position reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. This position functions independently using discretion, judgment and knowledge of established policies and procedures of the organization. This position also serves as a member of the senior management team, participating with other senior management staff and CEO in charting the direction of the Organization.

As a regulatory organization, the College protects the public by ensuring the right to safe, competent, and ethical care from dental hygienists. The College does this by setting the requirements for entry to practice, establishing standards of practice, registering new dental hygienists, ensuring high quality of care, and holding dental hygienists accountable for their conduct and practice. The College acts in accordance with legislation from the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA) and the Dental Hygiene Act (DHA) of 1991.

Reporting to the College’s Council, the CDHO is seeking an outstanding leader to fulfil the strategic mission of the College. Responsible for enhancing the ways in which the public is protected, the Registrar & CEO will provide sound stewardship of the College, working closely with the team to deliver, and foster, best practices in registration, quality assurance, human resources, and financial management. Ensuring that practice, programs, and services are in compliance with professional and practice obligations, the new Registrar & CEO will lead a capable team of approximately 20 staff, building trusted and respectful relationships with members of the public, staff, Council, registrants, and other key stakeholders.
