JULY IS INDEPENDENT RETAILER MONTH

"Independent Retailer Month is a shop local event that runs annually throughout July encouraging consumers to shop at independent retailers; highlighting their positive social and economic impact – locally, nationally and globally.

We encourage people to shop independent retail year round and to use July as a time to celebrate the independent retailers that help build our economy; creating more sustainable cities, towns and communities."

On greater Cape Ann, the Gloucester Main Street Block Parties, Ipswich Downtown Tuesdays, Festival by the Sea, and Waterfront Festival are all happening soon. These events are great opportunities for all to support local, independent retailers. We are very fortunate on greater Cape Ann to have vibrant downtown communities offering a wide variety of goods, arts, food, and services.

Check out the Independent Retailer website for a variety or resources and ideas to help promote your business. It is also a great time to consider adding your business to the growing list that accepts the Greater Cape Ann Gift Check.

Tourism Council Monthly Report

This time of year, all of Cape Ann is preparing for the summer season, and that’s especially true for the Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce Tourism Council. At our June 17 meeting, the Council shared some early summer updates and looked ahead to the remainder of the season, as well as fall, winter and even 2023.

The group reported a busy start to the summer – for both our motels and inns and long-term home rentals. We are seeing a return of Canadian visitors, as well as those from overseas, and more weddings and family gatherings.
