Dear Saint William Parishioners,
It is hard to believe that the time has come to say goodbye. Time has flown by, but when I reflect on my time here, we have accomplished so much. Our time together was not wasted! We boldly used our gifts and talents to build a stronger parish which created an even stronger community! We set out to build up the kingdom of God and we have. To begin to express how proud I am of the Saint William community is impossible. It’s been said that the true test of a community is not how well it does when circumstances are perfect, but when circumstances are dire that the true spirit of the community shines. Each and every challenge that our parish faced, you all were ready to give whether it be time in prayer, essential items that were needed, or financial gifts to help us make it through a pandemic. And the generosity was not just shown to our parish, it was shown to those most in need across the state and across the world. You were there ready and willing to help however you could.
These past 11 years, Saint William and Round Rock have become my home. I have not lived anywhere as long as I have lived here, except for San Antonio where I grew up. Though I look forward to what it is God is leading me to, my heart is heavy at having to say goodbye. You have invited me into your most sacred of moments, your homes, your joys, and your sorrows. You have forever changed me and my priesthood and I will carry that with me always. Please be assured of my prayers for you and the parish. I humbly ask that you remember me and my new parish, St. John Neumann, in your prayers. Always remember that God is faithful and even though we’ll be apart in distance, we are never apart in spirit.
By way of closing, I wish to express my profound gratitude to God for the gift of my life, the priesthood, and the incredible blessing and gift of being your pastor for over eleven years. I also express immense gratitude to all of you for giving me the amazing honor and privilege to serve as your shepherd during these years.
