April 9, 2023

Dear Upper School Families,

Welcome to the spring quarter! We hope the recent break gave everyone a chance to recharge as we head into the home stretch of the school year.

Ahead is a roadmap for what proves to be a busy April and also the final month of classes for our seniors.

Tuesday, April 11: Blood Drive in athletic lobby from 7:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. (click on the following links to schedule an appointment and view donation requirements).

Wednesday, April 12: This day is unique for each US grade (see below).

  • Grade 12: Seniors have a “Transition to College” day that begins with a special breakfast event in the dining hall with their kindergarten buddies and then shifts to a couple of forward-thinking programs – one with guest speaker Eric Hartman addressing how to approach their first steps in a new community, and others related to making smart choices as a college student. Seniors may depart campus at the conclusion of the program, approximately 12:30 p.m. Seniors have a late start: arrival time 8:15 a.m.

  • Grade 11 – SAT Day: Juniors will come in dress code and report directly to their assigned testing room by 8:00 a.m., calculator in hand. All juniors will take the SAT in US classrooms or the US Library. Students may depart campus when they have completed the test which, for most, will be around 11:30 a.m. to noon. Those using extended time will be finished later into the afternoon. All juniors are welcome to eat lunch at CA and stay on campus until their afternoon rehearsal or athletics begin if this is easiest given different transportation needs.

  • Grade 10 – Practice ACT Day: All sophomores will come in dress code and report to their assigned testing room by 8:00 a.m., calculator in hand. Students may depart campus at the close of the testing period which, for most, will be around 11:30 a.m. to noon. Students are welcome to eat lunch at CA and stay on campus until their afternoon rehearsal or athletics begin if this is easiest given different transportation needs.

  • Grade 9: Freshmen will report to school at the usual time for a morning of off-campus service in the local community followed by lunch at CA and then on-campus programming for the afternoon. Students may dress casually: pants, modest shirts (no bare midriffs/plunging necklines) with appropriate close-toed footwear.
