PARKS LEVY FUNDS

In 2019, King County voters chose to renew the property tax levy dedicated to parks, trails, and open spaceIn total, our Town expects to receive approximately $150,000. (We've received $78,000 to-date.) These special-purpose dollars offer a wonderful opportunity to enhance our Village! What ideas do you have in ways to use this money?

Please contact Paula Dix for more information.

2021 CONSUMER CONFIDENCE REPORT

The 2022 CCR for the Beaux Arts Water Department is now posted on the Town’s website at https://www.beauxarts-wa.gov/water-quality-report.

BACKFLOW DEVICE TESTING

Northern Waters expects to test backflow devices for residents who participate in the Town’s testing program during the first week in August.

COUNCIL BUSINESS

The Council met on Tuesday June 14, 2022 to discuss the following:

  • King County Historic Preservation Program: Planning Commissioner Steve Miller attended this meeting to further explain the program and answer questions. The Council has agreed that the program sounds like it may be useful to owners of historic homes and has authorized the Planning Commission to draft an ordinance for their use at a public hearing I the near future.
  • Cost Increase Projection for Police Services Contract: Mayor Howes recently met with the King County Sheriff and learned that costs for police services are expected to increase more rapidly than in recent years. The Council will continue to monitor such increases and determine if looking elsewhere for police services may be more cost-effective.
  • Maintenance Shed Update: Construction continues, including a new roof on the entire shed and the placement of exterior siding. The project should be complete in early July to mid-July. Remaining tasks include installation of restroom fixtures, an asphalt apron, and temporary drip irrigation for the significant trees on the property.

Great weather graced our New Member Welcome and Summer Kickoff event with a glorious Friday evening. One long-time villager was "blown away" by the Eagle Watch & Woodlands Tour. A show of hands for people who've held a formal role with WABA or BAV was another "wow' moment, so many hands went up it was a challenge to count. The crowd was large and the 30+ people who lingered got a bonus offer - stick around for grilled burgers from Alderspring Ranch, hot dogs, salads, and desserts brought "Pop-Up" style by fellow community members. Expect to see future "Pop-Up" events this summer, and let Carrie Olivier know if you'd like to host one yourself. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend!
