Dear Residents -

It looks like we are going to have another round of extreme cold temperatures over the next few days. These conditions can be dangerous if not taken seriously, so please remember to limit the time you spend outdoors and dress appropriately when you have to.

For anyone struggling to pay their heating bills, eligible homeowners and renters may still apply for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). Applications are accepted at the Rockland County Department of Social Services. Call (845) 364-3480 or e-mail RocklandHEAP@dfa.state.ny.us with questions about the program, including the Emergency HEAP benefit which opened January 3, 2022.

On the bright side, however, spring is within reach. It must be because organizations such as the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Grand Fondo New York,  Rockland Gaelic Athletic Association and Keep Rockland Beautiful (just to name a few) have all submitted permit applications for their upcoming spring events. Keep an eye out in future newsletters for more details about these events and much more!

In the meantime, we have plenty to keep us busy. We have the NFL divisional games this weekend, the NCAA Basketball (pretty much 24/7 through March 6th in preparation for March Madness), NHL Hockey games nightly, and on February 4th, the Winter Olympics will begin in Beijing.

Stay warm everyone!

Respectfully,
Teresa M. Kenny
