Friends,
As I am sure many of you have already heard, this week we learned that local celebrity chef and downtown enthusiast Justin Sutherland was seriously injured in a boating accident. The amount of community support that immediately rallied around Justin doesn't surprise me in the least, his circle is wide and his impact on our city has been tremendous. Friends and family set up a GoFundMe site to help whether this storm, feel free to check it out and consider making it a point to stop into his brand-new Lowertown restaurant Noyes and Cutler in the coming weeks.
The next few weeks are going to packed with events and opportunities to get out and enjoy downtown. Just this weekend you could go roller skating in Rice Park or see Rod Stewart at the X tonight, spend tomorrow afternoon at Rosé Fest in Kellogg Mall Park, and on Sunday downtown musician Ken Takata is bringing back his Pedro Park concert series. Starting next Tuesday we're kicking off StPL Music and Lunch in Landmark Plaza. Each week we'll have a food truck and local musician in the Plaza from 11 a.m. til 1 p.m. Thursday evening is a music twofer! Summer Nights in Rice!, a new concert series at Rice Park starts at 4 p.m., and after two weeks off Lowertown Sounds will be back in Mears Park at 6 p.m., an easy 10-minute walk down 6th Street.
There's too much more to list in this note, so keep reading for more event details and enjoy the weekend!
