All in-person athletic sports and practices are paused until Feb. 1.
Dear Beaver Students and Families,
The Brookline Department of Public Health has mandated all in-person athletic games and practices in the town be paused until February 1, due to a recent sustained rise in positive COVID-19 cases within the community. Certain health and fitness activities can continue.
What this means for BVR Upper School students
Starting tomorrow January 14, US students who have an Athletic Afternoon Activity need to go home at 3:30 p.m. An exception: Spin class will continue.
The US Athletics Department and coaches are currently putting together a remote plan for teams to continue to meet virtually. Coaches will be in touch with their teams to discuss details and expectations.
Visual Arts and Performing Arts Afternoon Activities have not been impacted in any way.
Students not participating in on-campus Afternoon Activities will need to be picked up by 3:30 p.m. at the latest.
What this means for BVR Middle School students
Our Middle School hockey and basketball offerings will be paused. Middle School students who are part of these two activities will now have choice-based offerings based on the time of day. We will be adding “Midday Movement” and “Afternoon Agility” to our options for students.
All other MS health and fitness programs are based on activities and not sports, and they will continue as planned.
The MS schedule is not impacted; all pick-up times remain the same.
At the end of January, the Department of Public Health will reevaluate whether athletics programs can resume based on available COVID-19 data. We will notify you as soon as we know more.
