Senator Mazie K. Hirono Acknowledgement of NAPABA & Affiliates letter
We wanted to update our members and supporters on an advocacy project that we recently undertook. OCAABA is proud to have joined with NAPABA and a dozen other APA bar organizations throughout the Ninth Circuit in supporting the nomination of Jennifer Sung for an upcoming vacancy on the Court of Appeals. This is an example of how OCAABA is able to project our influence beyond our home state on issues that affect us, including judicial nominations, where our pipeline/ nomination committee plays such an important role. It is important that our voices are heard, not just here in California but at a state, regional, and even national level. We were honored when Senator Hirono read stats from our letter and entered it into the hearing record. This is another example of how OCAABA continues to represent our AA NH/PI community and you, our members, at the highest levels of power in this nation.

OCSC Court Notices

The Rules and Forms Committee of the Superior Court of California, County of Orange, has proposed revisions to the Local Rules of Court. Pursuant to California Rules of Court, rule 10.613, the Court invites you to comment on the proposed changes to the local rules. If approved, the proposed changes will be effective January 1, 2022.

The Judicial Diversity Summit has been held every five years since 2006 to assess the efforts to increase judicial diversity in California, and to make recommendations for future activities and initiatives to diversify the judiciary. This year the summit will be virtual and held on three Tuesday evenings - September 14, 21 and 28.
