Reminder to Report Landslides
Provincial Managed Forest Program Review
The Managed Forest Council has been working closely with the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development (FLNRORD) on the provincial Managed Forest Program Review (Review). Council has made a formal submission and has met with FLNRORD staff to propose and discuss options to strengthen the objectives of the program. Discussions are ongoing and we look forward to reporting updates as the Review proceeds.
New Minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations & Rural Development
Premier John Horgan announced a new cabinet in late November.  The new Minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations & Rural Development is the Honourable Katrine Conroy. The Managed Forest Council is looking forward to meeting with the new minister and staff to provide a briefing and discuss the Managed Forest Program.

2019-20 Annual Report
The Managed Forest Council has now submitted its 2019-20 Annual Report to the Minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development. The report summarizes Council’s activities for the year, including how well it achieved its objective and performed its duties under the Private Managed Forest Land Act.
Owners successfully regenerated over 10,000 hectares in 2019-20

Recent Compliance Decisions
The Managed Forest Council has several mechanisms that may be used to ensure compliance with the Private Managed Forest Land Act and regulations. Compliance mechanisms and decisions are outlined in the compliance section of Council’s website here
Council has recently issued a Determination with respect to an Investigation that was initiated in 2018 regarding a landslide that deposited debris into fish habitat.
Road failures may impact drinking water and fish habitat

Reminder
Requirement to Report Landslides & Debris Flows 
We remind managed forest owners that they are required to report landslides and debris flows to our office within 24 hours of becoming aware that the landslide or debris flow has occurred on their land and has deposited debris or sediment into a class A, B, C, D, or E stream.
