Advocacy
NCJW National Conference
On March 3-5, Advocacy Chair, Mindy Aguirre attended NCJW’s national conference in St. Louis: Advocacy in Action: Leading through Uncertainty. Multiple workshops were designed to help participants navigate and advocate through the issues, laws and proposals that restrict the rights of women, children and families. Mindy A. met with CEO Sheila Katz (pictured below), and also had the opportunity to connect with and learn from members of other chapters. Mindy found the workshop Setting Statewide Strategy on Culture War Issues to be particularly relevant, and she is currently setting up meetings with local leaders to see how we can build coalitions and be most effective in this hostile political landscape.
RAGM, NCJW, Hadassah support teaching of AP African American Studies, DEI initiatives
On March 23, NCJWs Kendall and Miami chapters joined the Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami and Hadassah to issue a powerful statement in support of DEI initiatives in higher education and the teaching of AP African American Studies (and other courses). You can read the full statement here.
