City Council Redistricting:
View Proposed Plan & Provide Feedback
Later today (Thursday, June 7th), the Proposed Redistricting Plan will be available to the public on the City’s website at www.letstalkhouston.org/redistricting. Council Member Cisneros encourages everyone to view the Proposed Redistricting Plan to better understand how District H's boundaries may expand.

The public's input is critical in finalizing the Redistricting Plan.

City Council will hold three public hearings in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 2nd Floor, 901 Bagby, to receive comments, suggestions, and alternate plans from the public.

Hearings will be held:
Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 9:00 a.m.
Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 7:00 p.m.
Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 9:00 a.m.

Anyone wishing to speak at any of the hearings should contact the City Secretary’s Office at 832-393-1100. Details for signing up to speak in-person or virtually are also posted at https://www.houstontx.gov/council/meetingsinfo.html. The deadline to register to speak is 3p.m. the day before each hearing is scheduled to begin.
TechConnect Fairs are Back!
This summer, Council Member Cisneros will be hosting TechConnect Fairs at all 12 Community Centers within District H! TechConnect Fairs are free, family-friendly events during which kids and their caregivers engage in fun and educational activities related to science and technology. Denver Harbor Pool Now Open
The City of Houston has opened the pool at Denver Harbor Multi-Service Center/Selena Perez Park to the public on a modified schedule. The pool will be open Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, from 1-8pm. For more information about City pool openings and schedules, please click here.
Community Visioning Session in Near Northside
The Houston Land Bank is hosting a Community Visioning Session for 3201 Hardy and 1406 Hays St (former Yellow Cab sites). Organizers will lead a discussion about options for single family affordable housing that aligns with the community's vision for their neighborhood. View flyer here.

Houston Maritime Center Reopens to Public
For the first time since March of 2020, the Houston Maritime Center is open for walk-in visits. The Center is open to the public Thursdays, Fridays, and every 3rd Saturday from 10am-4:30pm. Visit Houston Maritime Center's website here for more details on hours and admission.
NASA Pressure Test on July 9 will be Loud!
Engineers at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston will be conducting a pressure test on Saturday, July 9. The test will cause a loud boom that may sound like an explosion to people in the vicinity. “The noise may be alarming for folks but, rest assured, it is a normal outcome of the test we are doing,” said Matthew Green, NASA representative. The test is expected to take up to four hours, but the burst of noise is expected to be brief. The test will conclude by the end of the day Saturday. Read full notice here.
Career Opportunity Fair on July 13th
The City of Houston Housing and Community Development department is hosting an in-person hiring fair designed to connect Houstonians with employers, second chance job opportunities, and free resources. Participants will have the opportunity to interview with hiring managers on-site, receive tips from career experts, and engage in job readiness workshops. Click here to register to attend.

Learn about HPD's Shotspotter Technology
Houston Police Department will present on the Shotspotter Program during the upcoming Chief's Citywide PIP session. The presentation will educate the public about how gunshot detection technology is helping HPD combat violent crime in the City of Houston. The meeting will also be livestreamed here.

Feline Friday at BARC
This Friday, July 8th, BARC is holding its "Feline Friday" adoption promotion. Adopt available cats and kittens for only $10 adoption fee. Visit the BARC shelter, located at 3200 Carr Street, Houston TX 77026 off the East Tex Freeway (59) and the Collingsworth / Cavalcade / Kelly exit. Learn more on the BARC website here.
