Chesterfield County Officials Donate
Thanksgiving Meals to Those in Need
County Administrator Dr. Joe Casey and Deputy County Administrator Dr. James Worsley recently donated several Thanksgiving meals from the county to help those in need this holiday season. They donated the meals to the Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Alliance for Social Ministry (CCHASM). CCHASM is a nonprofit that provides food and financial assistance to area residents in need.

This Thanksgiving, CCHASM is donating more than 3,100 meals! The meals were distributed to registered individuals on Saturday, Nov. 20. Visit cchasm.org/food-assistance for more information about their food assistance program.
Board of Supervisors Approve
Magisterial Redistricting Plan on Nov. 17
On Wednesday, Nov. 17 the Board of Supervisors approved a plan for redrawing the boundaries of the county's five magisterial districts, as required every decade in conjunction with the U.S. Census.

The alternate redistricting map, Plan B, which was introduced earlier this month in response to concerns from residents of the Woodlake community, allocates Chesterfield’s 365,000 residents evenly among the Bermuda, Clover Hill, Dale, Matoaca and Midlothian districts.

It satisfies requirements under state law that the districts be compact and contiguous, while limiting impact on residents. The county also concluded the plan has very little effect on racial demographics in each district.

In the latest issue of Chesterfield On Point, we address issues, dispel any lingering concerns and promote a more thorough understanding of how and why redistricting happens on the local level.
