This week is National Teacher Appreciation Week, and since we are lucky to have the VERY BEST teachers at TJ, let's show them some love!
The teachers and staff have gone above and beyond to adapt to this unprecedented school year. They kept our kids on track while managing their own families at the same time. There is no way to say Thank You enough, but please join us in sharing your appreciation for the work they do.
Between May 3rd-7th, let’s flood everyone’s inboxes with notes of appreciation for all they do - large and small - to make TJ the great school that it is.
Send emails to anyone at TJ who has made a difference in your life or made your experience at TJ a positive one.
Since teachers will be out of school due to AP testing over the next two weeks, we are planning our traditional Teacher Appreciation Week of sweets & treats for the week of May 17th. Stay tuned for more details.
Join us for the final TJ PTO meeting of the 2020-21 school year next Tuesday, May 11th. We will wrap up this year and start putting plans in place for 2021-22!

Step Up as a TJ PTO Officer Next Year
The PTO is a dedicated group of parents who do so much to support the TJ community, but we need leadership to stay on course. Please consider how you can use your skills to help TJ staff and students be the best they can be. We can’t be Spartan Strong without YOU!
We need parents to serve in the following ways…
- Vice President 2020-21: ideally this person will take on the role of President for in 2021-22 school year
- Vice President 2021-22

Season C (football, gymnastics, boys soccer, volleyball, cheer):
Gymnastics and boys' soccer have finished their seasons. Gymnastics qualified for Regionals a few weeks ago but due to quarantine issues the full team was not able to compete. But congratulations to both teams for a great season!
Cheerleading had a great season cheering in Season B and C. They also competed at State a few weeks ago. While they didn't move on to finals, they had a good routine and it was a good experience for them to compete at a higher level. They had fun and it will help them for future competitions. Great work Cheer!
TJ Volleyball is #14 in the state (4A), and qualified or Regionals! Regionals were on Saturday at Discovery Canyon HS. (results unknown when this went to publish) They played a round robin against Discovery Canyon and Durango. The winner of the three will advance to State. Good Luck Volleyball!
TJ Football is #1 in the state (4A) and are currently in playoffs! This week's game against Aurora Central was canceled due to AC having to quarantine. This counts as their forfeit and we will advance to round two. That game will be next weekend, against the winner of JFK and Falcon.
Re: post season spectators: right now there are 2 adults allowed per athlete (parents/grandparents/family) both for volleyball and football. If that changes and they open it up to additional spectators we will let you know.
Season D (baseball, girls golf, boys lacrosse, girls soccer, boys swim & dive, girls tennis, track & field):
Practices started last week! Registration is closed so teams will be set this week and then games start next week. Good luck to all our teams this season!
Go Spartans!

In an effort to provide GT students and their families with the resources and supports needed to begin/complete their Advanced Learning Plan (ALP), the TJHS GT Site Team has created a Google Classroom for each GT grade level. The title and code for each grade level is listed below:
TJHS Gifted and Talented 2024 Cohort - doyqstu
TJHS Gifted and Talented 2023 Cohort - b7vpvfn
TJHS Gifted and Talented 2022 Cohort - orzg7to
TJHS Gifted and Talented 2021 Cohort - by7mjwi
The TJHS GT Site Team, working alongside our District GT Partners, has included resources, websites and documents to help you complete your ALP goals. Keep in mind that there are affective as well as academic goals. At this time, students should only focus on the Goals / Advanced Learning Plan section and not worry about the badges right now. We don't want you to get in there and feel overwhelmed.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Ms. Tate, our Dean Instruction and GT Point of Contact at adria_tate@dpsk12.org
Our District GT Partner is Brian Beard, brian_beard@dpsk12.org, and you may receive GT newsletters from his office with internship and university opportunities.
