CCSD93 strives to maximize the academic, social & emotional potential of each student.

Dear Friend of CCSD93,
Messages From
Superintendent Hill:
|
-
The District is now targeting a mid-January transition from our current fully remote learning environment back to the Hybrid (the combination of in-person and remote) Learning environment. This is a tentative target date. We will continue to be in contact with parents with more information.
-
Starting Monday, November 30, the elementary school schedule will shift away from the AM/PM model that has been in place and back to the fully remote schedule that was in place at the beginning of the school year until elementary students return to the Hybrid Learning environment. This will not change the beginning and ending hours of the school day, but it will change the timing of learning opportunities throughout the school day.
- The middle school and ECC schedules will continue in their current formats until their students return to the Hybrid Learning environment.

Equity & Excellence in CCSD93:
Working to Ensure All Students & Families Are Supported, Represented & Heard
|
|
CCSD93 is devoted to ensuring students are healthy, engaged, challenged, safe, and socially and emotionally supported. In 2018 the district initiated an Equity and Excellence Committee composed of staff members, administrators, parents and Board of Education members to accomplish this. The Committee has been charged with removing bias and increasing diversity and cultural sensitivity to create more equitable experiences throughout the district so all of our students and families have greater opportunities to know they are an equally vital part of the CCSD93 community. While our current circumstances prevent CCSD93 from fully implementing the Committee’s work, its members are passionate and continue to meet virtually to plan and implement steps to the greatest extent we can. The Committee is composed of subcommittees, which are listed below, along with their goals.
-
Systemic - To ensure a systemic and continuous development toward advancing equity within all policies, processes, procedures, initiatives, decision-making and fiscal responsibilities.
-
Curriculum & Instruction - To intentionally embed equity-driven pedagogy in the curriculum, resources, instructional approaches, use and consideration of assessments and academic programming for the purpose of advancing equity among all students.
-
Employment & Retainment - To provide a continuum of professional learning and growth opportunities for all staff in pursuit of fully understanding and embracing educational equity.
-
Student Voice Climate & Culture - To consistently seek students’ feedback and experiences, and nurture a positive, authentic and meaningful organizational culture and climate.
-
Family & Community - To partner with families and the community for authentic opportunities to serve the students, the school and the school district.
Starting in the summer of 2020, CCSD93 added a new and essential component to the Committee: the voice of parents through the advent of our Equity & Excellence Parent Advisory Committee. At the Parent Advisory Committee’s first meeting, 30 parents participated in virtual listening circles to begin to help provide perspective and guidance to CCSD93 in these areas. This has helped to provide terrific insight to our Equity & Excellence Committee, with suggestions from parents being directly integrated into the work of subcommittees and acted upon by the District. The following are examples of those suggestions.
- Review curriculum for equity, including representations in history, civics and Innovation Center books
- Empower Students to have a voice & be heard
- Increase awareness of unconscious biases
- Train staff on equity
- Partner more visibly with our local police departments
- Empower students to take charge if they see something unjust
- Review how clubs are developed and organized
- Ensure equal access to technology
This is a continuous process, and the Committee’s work is only just beginning. They and the Parent Advisory Committee committee continue to meet throughout this school year and beyond, and their efforts will improve CCSD93 for all of our families. I will continue to keep you updated on their work.

Stay Safe During Thanksgiving Break
|
|
For the health and safety of all, and to contribute to an atmosphere conducive to returning in-person learning, I once again appeal to our entire community to please continue to take to heart the generally accepted guidance of washing your hands regularly, wearing a mask, and watching your distance in all interactions in your personal lives. I ask that you please consider this guidance as you plan holiday travel and gatherings. In addition, linked here are some helpful guidelines from the CDC regarding celebrating Thanksgiving safely.

|
Please review the following information for more of the latest from CCSD93, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
David H. Hill, Ed.D.

This is a reminder that there will be no school between Wednesday, November 25 and Friday, November 27 for Thanksgiving break. This year, class will be in session on Monday and Tuesday, November 23 and 24. This is a shift from previous years and is the result of moving Student-Led Conferences to earlier in the school year.
