What is a Focus Child Care Network?

A Focus Child Care Networkis a coort of child care providers who work closely with a Quality Improvement Specilaist to advance their steps on the Oregon Registry, to complete a Spark portfolio and submit it for a star-rating, and - in this case - to develop an area of exptertise.
Network participants receive free training for as long as they are participating in the network. In fact, many of these trainings are held exclusively for network participants. There are oten times other supports and incentives available to network participants. The upcoming Focus Child Care Network will launch in early February and its focus will be on developing a cohort of providers with expertise in caring for children with special needs. There are 15 spaces available for providers in this network. If you are interested in particpating, or if you have futher questions, please contact Lynn Reiling at 541-463-3307 or reilingl@lanecc.edu.
Lisa McCann: Sharing Her Success

Dear Reader,

When I first started the QRIS/SPARK program I was a Step 3 on the Oregon Registry.I have no formal education in Early Childhood, but have over 30 years of experience and training. Different people (i.e. my state certifier, trainers, people in the field) would ask me if I was going to join the network. My initial responses was in a loving way, “Are you kidding me? I have NO extra time. Maybe next year I will be able to focus on something like that.” I was never really pushed but could tell that this just might be something important. So with the help of Quality Improvement Specialist, Lynn Reiling, I started this adventure and what a wonderful adventure it was. I am now a Step 8 on the Oregon Registry AND have a 3-star rated Spark program. I am super excited.

Sincerely,
Lisa McCann
