Keep COVID paperwork current
November 23, 2021

As we head into winter break and the new year, a reminder that Penn-Delco is working together with its nurses, staff and families to insure students remain well and in school.

With the recent significant uptick in COVID-19 cases within our county, you can help us respond to these increases and strengthen our chances of keeping kids in school by reviewing the following: information.
Proof of vaccination
If your child is vaccinated and identified as a close contact in a school program, your child will not have to quarantine as long as we have a copy of their vaccine card on file.

Send a copy of your child's vaccine card to your school nurse today. An email or print out with a photo of the front of the card with the child's name and dates of both vaccinations is adequate. A booster is not required.
In-school testing for symptomatic students
No student should come to school ill. But sometimes children feel poorly after they come to class. Penn-Delco nursing staff can offer a symptomatic child a BinaxNOW test if a permission slip and testing QR code is on file with their school nurse.

If your child is vaccinated or not, having those documents up-to-date can bring peace of mind when your child becomes ill in school. You can access the BinaxNOW information as part of the Test-to-Stay package link here.
Test-to-Stay
The Test-to-Stay program helps prevent your child from having to quarantine if your child is not vaccinated and identified as a close contact in a school program (those exposed to COVID outside of school do not qualify for Test-to-Stay).

  • Test-to-Stay permission slip
  • Signed BinaxNOW permission slip
  • Print out of QR code for your child

In order to avoid being called to the school or interrupted at work, please review the Test-to-Stay program and paperwork here and send the paperwork as noted above into school with your child as soon as possible. All three documents must be on file. This will ensure that we may address both testing and close contact tracing immediately.

Other important points:

  • The Test-to-Stay program is entirely optional, and Parent/Guardian written permission is required to participate.
  • The BinaxNOW Rapid Antigen Test is used for the program and is administered by trained proctors.

Thank you for helping us manage the options for you and your child during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sincerely,
Dr. George Steinhoff
Superintendent of Schools
